The Gylfaginning recounts the episode quite plainly. Archaeologists have even found horses in the richest burials, sacrificed and deposited with their harness: at Oseberg, fifteen of them accompanied the two women in the ship.

📖 To learn more: Discover our guide to Viking funeral rites.

♦ Complete Your Viking Collection

Discover other pieces you might like:

Stylized Viking Dragon Hair Slide with Pin

Triple Spiral Viking Hair Slide

Dense Interlace Viking Hair Slide with Pin

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0974/0569/8430/files/barrette-viking-chevaux-entrelaces-pique-ambiance.jpg?v=1787430130
