Icelandic and Norwegian law codes provide for compensation when someone cut another person's hair without their consent — an attack on honor, treated like a wound. The combs found in graves, carved from deer antler and often carried in a case at the belt, confirm daily grooming: they are among the most frequent objects in Viking archaeology, all categories combined.

📖 Further reading: Discover our guide to Viking jewelry.

♦ Complete Your Viking Collection

Discover other pieces you might like:

Viking Dense Knotwork Barrette with Pin

Viking Fine Infinity Knot Barrette

Viking Symmetrical Double Knot Barrette

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0974/0569/8430/files/barrette-viking-noeuds-serres-pique-ambiance.jpg?v=1787430183
