The poem uses the verb fela, meaning to hide or entrust, and places the eye in Mímir's well, where it remains as a pledge. Snorri specifies that the god took a drink in exchange. The nuance is significant: it is neither a wound nor an accident, but a voluntary deposit—and there is no indication in the texts that it was ever retrieved.

📖 To learn more: Discover our guide on Odin.

♦ Complete Your Viking Collection

Discover other pieces you might like:

Red and Gold Horned Warrior Viking Tank Top

Gold Vegvísir Viking Tank Top with Epaulets

Confronting Warriors and Mjölnir Viking Tank Top

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0974/0569/8430/files/debardeur-viking-odin-dore-oeil-unique-ambiance.jpg?v=1787423895
