On a screen, a silver blade reflects light unpredictably and gets lost against bright backgrounds; a black blade keeps its silhouette readable in any circumstance. What was a technical constraint for visibility became an aesthetic code, then a real-world object. Nothing of the sort existed before: in the ancient world, a blade was polished precisely to shine — a dull sword signaled negligence, and the sagas happily mock such things.

To go further, our anatomy of a Viking sword allows you to compare this design to that of a blade actually forged in the North.

In the same category

Artorias Sword (Dark Souls): Foam Replica, 102 cm

Sting: Bilbo's Sword, Leaf-Blade Replica

Needle: Arya Stark's Sword, 79 cm Replica

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0974/0569/8430/files/epee-fantasy-noire-garde-ouvragee-mousse-ambiance.jpg?v=1787672339
