It is the fullness of the braid that holds it in place, so there is nothing that can break.\u003c\/li\u003e\n\u003cli\u003e\n\u003cb\u003eHole of about 6 mm:\u003c\/b\u003e the only criterion that really matters. It is found carved on the Funbo runestone, in Sweden, and also in Irish Insular art — the Book of Kells contains several. Calling this motif a “Celtic knot” is therefore only half right: the Scandinavian and Insular worlds crossed paths extensively during the Viking Age.
