When the gods realized the wolf would become too dangerous, they tried to chain him through trickery using a magical binding, Gleipnir. Fenrir, suspicious, would only agree to be bound if one of the gods placed their hand in his jaws as a guarantee. Only Týr agreed, knowing full well he would lose his limb the moment the wolf realized he could not break free. Since that day, Týr is the one-handed god, a symbol of the sacrifice necessary to maintain order and justice within the cosmos, under the sovereign gaze of the All-Father.

To learn more about the tradition of Norse statuary, read our article Viking Statues: when Norse gods take form.

♦ Complete Your Viking Collection

Kratos God of War 75mm Resin Figurine - Kit to Paint

Odin All-Father 88mm Resin Figurine

Ragnar Lothbrok 75mm Resin Figurine - Kit to Paint

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0974/0569/8430/files/statue-tyr-dieu-viking-sacrifice-main-fenrir.jpg?v=1785676263
