The Viking necklace to wear alone or with your pendant
A necklace closed by a steel ring that opens with a press, between two steel beads engraved with runes: no lobster clasp to fumble with, and the ring can hold a pendant. Five cords to choose from, braided leather in beige, brown or red, black braided cotton or a steel wheat chain, with a plain ring or one chiselled with knotwork, in 50, 60 or 70 cm.
Find it in our Viking necklaces section.
What sets this piece apart
- A clasp worth showing: the round ring is both clasp and bail; it is worn at the front, as a piece of jewelry in its own right.
- A base for your pendants: most pendants with a bail hang straight on the ring, a Mjölnir, a Vegvísir or a wolf tooth.
- Stainless steel: beads, ring and chain do not rust and do not turn skin green.
To dress it up, see our Viking Mjölnir Valknut Runes Necklace or our Viking Vegvisir Compass Rune Necklace.

Did you know?
The Vikings wore their amulets, such as Thor's hammer, on leather thongs, which have rarely survived, or on braided silver wire chains found in graves and hoards. Runes, for their part, were used for writing: they were carved on stone, wood, bone or metal, sometimes to name the owner of an object.

Does the necklace come with a pendant?
No: it is sold on its own, with its two rune beads and its ring clasp. Wear it as it is, or with a pendant hung on the ring.
How does the clasp open?
The round ring opens with a press on its moving part, then closes by itself: slip in the other end of the necklace, or the bail of a pendant.
Which length should I choose?
50 cm at the base of the neck, 60 cm on the upper chest, 70 cm at chest height. To wear a pendant, 60 cm is the most common choice.
Can the cord get wet?
It is best to take off the leather or cotton models for showering and swimming. The stainless steel beads, ring and chain are not bothered by water.
What is the difference between the plain and chiselled ring?
The plain ring is polished and sober; the chiselled ring carries knotwork in relief, in the style of Viking jewelry.
