Viking Tapestry Odin's Ravens & Eye of Wisdom — Black and White

Two engraved ravens face each other, together forming the silhouette of a heart. Above them, a radiant eye watches over. A large Valknut can be seen in filigree on the wall of runes that occupies the entire background, between two interlaced borders.

The story behind the design

The Valknut—three intertwined triangles—appears on the Stora Hammars stone and on the Oseberg ship, almost always in the company of Odin and scenes of death. Its modern name means "knot of the slain." Its exact original meaning remains unknown: it is one of the few Norse symbols whose usage is attested by archaeology, yet whose significance remains a mystery.

Where to hang it

On the wall, of course, but also as a headboard, a room divider, stretched across the ceiling, or draped over a sofa. The large sizes cover an entire wall; the smaller ones are easy to frame.

Care

Hand wash or machine wash on a delicate, cold cycle. Do not use bleach; air dry. Iron on low heat on the reverse side if necessary.
