What you receive: a flat print
Let's be clear from the start: this item is a 2D print. The design imitates a sculpted relief very convincingly, but the surface is perfectly smooth — no engraving, no volume, no cutouts. It is a quality print, not a sculpted piece. We would rather you know this before ordering than upon opening the package.
The story behind the design
The Norse people did not have magnetic compasses. They navigated by the sun, the stars, the color of the water, and the flight of birds — and, according to the sagas, by the sunstone, a crystal that revealed the sun's position through the clouds. The compass rose, however, would come much later: it speaks to the same desire to know where one is heading.

Mounting and care
