Two crows with spread wings face each other above two crossed axes. In the center, a black medallion bears the Ægishjálmur, the Helm of Awe. Dragon heads occupy the four corners, against a background of runes.

The story behind the design

The Ægishjálmur, or Helm of Awe, is an Icelandic protective sign formed of eight arms tipped with prongs. Late grimoires recommended tracing it in lead on the forehead before battle to strike terror into the opponent. The crows are Huginn and Muninn: Thought and Memory, who traverse the world each day for Odin.

Where to hang it

On the wall, of course, but also as a headboard, a room divider, stretched across the ceiling, or draped over a sofa. Large formats cover an entire wall; small ones are easy to frame.

Care

Hand wash or machine wash on a delicate, cold cycle. Do not use bleach, air dry. Iron on the reverse at low temperature if necessary.
