The helmet that only shows the eyes
The medallion features an embossed Corinthian helmet — the type that encases the entire head, leaving only a T-shaped slit for sight and breathing — topped with its crest. The perimeter is encircled by a Greek meander frieze. Stainless steel, approximately 3 cm, on a 60 cm braided chain.
Greek, not Nordic
Let's be blunt: this pendant is not Scandinavian in any way. The Corinthian helmet is the gear of the Greek hoplite from the 7th-5th centuries BCE, which has become a symbol of Sparta in contemporary imagery. It is an exception in our catalog, intentionally presented as such rather than disguised as a Viking amulet. The rest of our pendants can be found in the Viking Necklace collection.
The terrible nature of this helmet
The Corinthian helmet protected everything — and that was precisely its flaw. Forged from a single sheet of bronze, it enveloped the skull, cheeks, and nose, leaving only a T-shaped slit. The wearer could barely hear anything and could only see what was directly in front of them: it was impossible to perceive anything coming from the sides. This was acceptable in the phalanx, where every hoplite advanced shoulder to shoulder, protected on their left by their neighbor's shield. The helmet only makes sense in this formation. Outside of it, it blinds the wearer. The Greeks, in fact, abandoned it in the 4th century BCE in favor of more open models as warfare became more mobile.
The medallion

Which helmet is depicted?
A Corinthian helmet: the one that covers the whole face, leaving only a T-shaped slit for the eyes and mouth, with its crest. It is the silhouette associated with Greek hoplites and, in modern imagery, with Sparta.
Does this pendant have any link to the Vikings?
None, and we will not pretend otherwise. It is a Greek-themed piece in a Norse catalog — a deliberate exception.
How big is it?
About 3 cm in diameter, on a 60 cm braided-link chain.
