A creature of the deep
A stainless steel anglerfish: mouth wide open bristling with teeth, intricately carved fins, and the characteristic luminous appendage standing above its skull. Approximately 4 cm long, on a 60 cm braided chain.
A curiosity, not an amulet
This pendant has nothing to do with Norse mythology and we will not invent any. It is a piece with character, for those looking for something that no one else is wearing. The anglerfish lives between 200 and 2,000 meters deep; the luminous lure it waves above its mouth owes its glow to symbiotic bacteria. The rest of our pendants can be found in the Viking Necklace collection.
What is fascinating about the anglerfish
The luminous appendage it waves above its mouth is called an illicium — literally "that which attracts". Its light does not come from the fish but from symbiotic bacteria housed in the terminal bulb, which produce their glow through a chemical reaction. The fish feeds them, and they light its way. Even stranger: in many species, the tiny male attaches itself by the mouth to the female's flank and eventually fuses with her, retaining only its reproductive organs. It is the only creature in our catalog whose real biology surpasses mythology — and that is exactly why it deserves to be worn.
A pendant that gets noticed
Approximately 4 cm long, entirely in relief: the open mouth, the chiseled fins, and the raised lantern make it a piece that can be spotted from a distance. The stainless steel keeps its polish without any special treatment.
