Beasts that never stop coiling
Look closely at the amulet: what initially looks like a simple interlace reveals itself to be a tangle of animal bodies. Beast heads emerge around the perimeter, limbs cling on, and a central creature unfolds in the middle of a cross. This is exactly the principle of Scandinavian ornamentation—never an abstract motif, always an animal that knots itself. Diameter of approximately 3.5 cm, on a 60 cm chain. Find it in our Viking Necklace collection.
The animal art of the North
Archaeologists have given names to these repertoires: the Borre style with its "gripping beasts" with hooked paws, the Jelling style with its ribbon-like bodies, and the Urnes style with its thread-like creatures coiling into eights—named after the portal of the Urnes Stave Church in Norway, a World Heritage site. This amulet is a modern creation in this spirit, not a copy of a dated piece: we prefer to say so. Our guide to Viking symbols does the same work of sorting.

For whom
For anyone looking for a piece rich in detail, to be admired up close. Pair it with the Odin's Ravens bracelet, in the same chiseled style.
What do the motifs on the amulet represent?
Zoomorphic knotwork: elongated beast bodies coiling into one another, with animal heads visible around the edge. It is the very principle of Scandinavian art in the Borre and Urnes styles.
Does this pendant copy a specific archaeological piece?
No. It is a modern creation in the spirit of Scandinavian ornament, not the reproduction of a dated object. We would rather make that clear than invent a provenance.
What is its diameter?
About 3.5 cm, for a pendant that is clearly visible yet stays comfortable to wear every day.
