The two ravens who bring the world back to Odin
Two facing ravens with chiseled wings frame a Valknut in the center of the medallion; all around is a circle of Futhark runes. Made of stainless steel, available in a gold or silver finish, on a 60 cm braided chain. Find it in our Viking Necklace collection.
Huginn and Muninn
Their names mean "thought" and "memory." The Grímnismál describes their daily flight over Midgard and their return in the evening, perched on Odin's shoulders. The stanza ends with an unexpected confession from the god: he fears that Huginn might not return, but he worries even more for Muninn—losing memory troubles him more than losing thought. Who are the two ravens on the medallion?
Huginn (“thought”) and Muninn (“memory”), Odin's two ravens. The Grímnismál tells how they fly over the world every day and come back to report what they have seen — and that Odin fears above all that Muninn will not return.
What does the Valknut in the center mean?
Three interlocking triangles, carved on the Hammars stone on Gotland and on the Oseberg ship, always near scenes linked to Odin and death. Its exact meaning is still debated — we will not claim to know it.
What is the difference between the two finishes?
The gold-tone is a PVD plating on stainless steel; the silver-tone is the bare polished steel. Same pendant, same chain: only the color changes.
