A double-edged jian, its scabbard and display stand
A straight, double-edged sword — a jian — cast in gold-toned bronze alloy, with a guard that opens into a dragon's head with openwork scrolls. Delivered with its engraved scabbard, a black display stand, and a red silk tassel.

What sets this piece apart
- The stand changes everything: the piece is displayed unsheathed, crossing its scabbard, like in a museum display case. This is what distinguishes it from a simple miniature.
- A jian, not a saber: a straight, symmetrical, double-edged blade. The Far Eastern saber, the dao, is curved and has only one edge — two different weapons.
- Three pieces: sword, scabbard, and display stand. A keychain ring is attached to the scabbard.
- It is a display item: thirty centimeters of cast alloy, with a blunt point and edges. It is neither a weapon nor a costume piece.

Did you know?
The jian is known in the Far East as "the gentleman of weapons." It is a straight, double-edged sword, documented since the Bronze Age, and its handling is as much about philosophy as it is about combat — it is the weapon of scholars and Taoists, whereas the dao saber is that of soldiers. The dragon's head on the guard is not a neutral ornament: the Far Eastern dragon is a being of water and rain, auspicious, as opposed to the European treasure-guarding dragon. There is nothing Nordic here, and we prefer to state that rather than selling a Far Eastern design under a Viking label.
To learn more, our anatomy of a Viking sword allows you to compare this design with that of a blade actually forged in the North.

Is the stand included?
Yes. The miniature comes with its engraved scabbard and a black display stand that lets you show it with the blade drawn.
What is a jian?
A straight, double-edged sword from the Far East, attested since the Bronze Age. The dao, on the other hand, is the curved, single-edged saber: they are two distinct weapons.
Is it a Viking piece?
No, its style is Far Eastern through and through — shape, dragon head, silk tassel. We offer it for what it is.
How big is it?
About 30 cm. It is a piece for a display cabinet or a desk, not a costume piece.
