In modern Icelandic, this word means a road sign
A gold-tone slim band crowned with a round top engraved with the Vegvísir: eight radiating arms, each ending in a different motif. The engraving is fine, the top understated.

What sets this piece apart
- All eight arms are different: crosses, forks, circles. That is what distinguishes a Vegvísir from an ordinary rosette.
- Slim band, small top: it can be worn every day, on any finger.
- Stainless steel: no rust, no tarnish, no skin reaction.

Did you know?
The Vegvísir first appears in the Huld Manuscript, compiled in Iceland in 1860 — eight centuries after the Viking Age. Its name means “the one who shows the way,” and it has had an unexpected fate: the word vegvísir has stayed in everyday Icelandic, where today it simply means a road sign. An Icelander who reads the word thinks first of an arrow by the side of a road, and only then of a sign from a grimoire.
To go further, our Viking Ring section brings together the other models, and our Viking jewelry the rest of the shop.
