A frieze of runes around the entire circumference
The ring is approximately 8 mm wide and features a continuous frieze of Futhark runes, engraved into deliberately darkened steel. A red border runs between two rows of characters, giving the ring its contrast. Available in sizes 7 to 13. Find it in our Viking Ring collection.
The Futhark, an alphabet before being a symbol
The runes on this ring belong to the Futhark, the alphabet of the Northern Germanic peoples. The Elder Futhark has 24 signs; the Viking Age one, known as the Younger Futhark, retains only 16—fewer letters for more sounds, which makes some inscriptions ambiguous even today. They were engraved on stone, bone, and wood: more than 6,000 runic inscriptions have been identified, more than half of which are in Sweden. Our guide to runes explains how to read them.

For whom
A ring that can be worn every day without being too noticeable. It is also available in a light steel version.
Do the runes form a word?
No: they are Futhark characters arranged in a continuous frieze, with no message. We would rather say so than invent a translation.
What is the red stripe?
An inlaid band that runs around the entire circumference, between two rows of runes. It gives the ring its contrast, visible even from a distance.
How do I choose my size?
Sizes are in US ring sizes, from 7 to 13. A US 9 corresponds roughly to a French 59-60, and a US 11 to a 63-64.
