A Skull with Curved Horns, in a Discreet Format
These horned skull earrings in stainless steel condense a complex motif — hollowed eye sockets, defined jaw, horns curved backward — into the most understated format in the department. The detailing remains sharp despite the small size, which separates a quality stud from a mere metal button. Find this product in our Viking earrings collection.

What Sets This Pair Apart
The horns change everything: they elongate the silhouette and give the skull a profile that is recognizable from afar.
- Detached horns: they lift off the skull rather than being engraved flat, which creates a true drop shadow.
- Hollowed eye sockets: the eye voids are deep, not just darkened on the surface.
- Compact format: despite the horns, the piece remains flush against the lobe and does not protrude.
- Push-back clasp: stable all day long, with nothing dangling or snagging.

Did you know?
The Viking horned helmet is a 19th-century invention. No horned helmet has ever been found in a Scandinavian grave from the Viking Age: the only known complete helmet, the Gjermundbu helmet in Norway, is a simple iron bowl with spectacle guards, without the slightest horn. The image comes from costumes designed by Carl Emil Doepler for the premiere of Wagner's The Ring of the Nibelung in 1876. This horned skull therefore belongs to the romantic and gothic imagination, not to archaeology — and it is no less beautiful for it.

Do the horns catch on clothing?
No. They curve back toward the rear of the skull and stay flat against the earlobe. The stud sticks out no more than a standard one.
Did the Vikings wear horned helmets?
No, that's a myth born in 1876 with the costumes for Wagner's operas. The only complete Viking helmet ever found, at Gjermundbu, is an iron bowl with no horns. This motif belongs to gothic imagination, not to history.
Is it a good choice for a man's first earring?
Yes. The stud is the easiest style to wear: nothing dangles, nothing moves, and you forget about it once it's in. It's the classic starting point.
Does the finish darken over time?
No, stainless steel keeps its appearance. The recesses can collect a little residue: a wipe with a soft cloth and soapy water is enough to clean them up.
