A Cross with Flared Arms, a Red Stone at the Crossing
These cross stud earrings take the pattée form — arms that widen toward their ends — with a red zircon set exactly at the intersection. The size is small: this is a cross for the lobe, not a dangling cross. Find this product in our Viking earrings collection.
For a large hanging cross, see our gothic cross drop earrings, made up of skulls.
What Sets This Pair Apart
A miniature cross has to keep its arms short, otherwise it turns into a heavy-handed religious motif.
- Pattée arms: the flared ends give the motif substance without lengthening the cross.
- Center stone: the red zircon draws the eye to the crossing and lightens a strictly symbolic reading.
- Push-back closure: post centered behind the crossing, so the stud stays perfectly straight.
- Stainless steel: the edges of the arms stay crisp and don't tarnish.
To cross the cross with a blade, our blackened steel cross-sword drop earrings go further.

Did You Know?
The oldest Scandinavian image of Christ looks like no other. It is carved on the great Jelling stone in Denmark, raised around 965 by Harald Bluetooth — the very man whose nickname was given, a thousand years later, to a wireless transmission standard. The inscription proclaims that he “made the Danes Christian,” and one of its faces shows Christ. But he is not nailed to a cross: he stands upright, arms outstretched, entirely caught in a web of knotwork that binds him like ribbons. No suffering, no visible cross. The sculptor treated the new god exactly as he would have treated a Norse hero — wrapped in the knots that, in his vocabulary, meant power.

Does this model have a religious meaning?
The cross pattée is an ancient geometric shape, used well beyond a Christian context. The small size and the central stone make it more of a piece of jewelry than a religious sign — but everyone can read into it what they wish.
How big is the cross?
Just under one centimeter tall. It is a stud, not a pendant: it stays entirely on the earlobe.
Did the cross and Thor's hammer coexist?
Yes, and very closely: a Danish mold found at Trendgården made it possible to cast Christian crosses and Thor's hammers in the same workshop. The conversion of the North was gradual and long remained ambiguous.
Can I wear them every day?
Yes, without reservation. The stud is flat, stainless steel resists water and sweat, and nothing sticks out to catch.
