The Blade, Pointing Down
These Viking sword earrings in stainless steel feature a tapered blade, a distinct guard, and a pommel engraved with interlace patterns. The silhouette is immediately recognizable, even from a distance—this is the strength of the design. Find this product in our Viking earrings collection.
For a shorter, stone-set blade, see our zircon-set sword-cross earrings.
What Sets This Pair Apart
On a miniature weapon, everything depends on the proportions between the blade, the guard, and the pommel.
- Tapered blade: It thins steadily towards the point, avoiding the stubby appearance of poorly proportioned swords.
- Distinct guard: The horizontal bar clearly separates the blade from the hilt.
- Engraved pommel: Nordic interlace patterns are featured here, just like on real Viking Age swords.
- Excellent worn individually: The vertical shape stands on its own when worn as a single earring.

Did you know?
The sword was not the most common weapon among Scandinavians: axes and spears equipped the majority of fighters because they were much cheaper to produce. A forged blade represented several months of work and was passed down from generation to generation; sagas gave them names—Gramr, Skofnung, Fótbítr, "foot-biter." It is precisely this rarity that made the sword a symbol of status and the free man, rather than that of a common soldier.

Was the sword the Vikings' main weapon?
No. The axe and the spear equipped most fighters because they cost far less. A forged sword represented months of work, which made it a status marker.
How long is the drop?
The blade hangs below the lobe without reaching the jaw. It is a medium size, longer than our studs but shorter than the large gothic cross.
Can I wear just one?
Yes, and that is the most common way men wear this type of vertical drop. A single sword on one ear works perfectly.
Did Viking swords have names?
The sagas mention several: Gramr, Skofnung, and Fotbitr, which means foot-biter. A blade handed down over several generations acquired an identity of its own.
