Three ways to wear the dragon
The same dragon, available in three stainless steel pendants: an octagonal plate where the beast appears in its entirety, body coiled upon itself; a round medallion with a roaring head captured in profile; a rectangular plate where the maw occupies the entire field, set against a background of scales. A 60 cm braided chain is included in all three cases. Find them in our Viking Necklace collection.
The dragons of the North
Fáfnir was a man before he was a monster: in the Völsunga saga, he kills his father for the cursed gold of Andvari, and his greed transforms him into a serpent that broods over his treasure on the Gnitaheiðr heath. Sigurðr slays him by hiding in a pit dug along his path. Níðhöggr, "he who strikes with hate," gnaws at the roots of Yggdrasil from Niflheim. Our guide to Norse creatures reviews them all.

For whom
A jewelry piece with character, unisex. Pair it with our Jörmungandr serpent ring, in the same reptilian style.
What are the three shapes available?
An octagonal plate showing the whole dragon, its body coiled; a round medallion with a roaring dragon's head in profile; a rectangular plate with a close-up dragon's head on a background of scales. Same metal, same chain.
Did the Vikings know about dragons?
They gave them names: Fáfnir, turned into a dragon by his greed in the Völsunga saga, and Níðhöggr, who gnaws at the roots of Yggdrasil. The prows of the great ships bore carved dragon heads — hence the popularity of the word “drakkar,” the French term for a Viking longship.
Can I give this necklace as a gift without knowing the person's taste?
Yes. The dragon motif appeals to a wide audience and the three shapes cover quite different styles. If you are unsure, the round medallion is the most classic.
