Two long-handled axes cross on a dark, veined wooden board, surrounded by a double border of Celtic knotwork punctuated by rivets. The word "Welcome" appears in copper lettering at the bottom of the disc.
What you receive: a flat print
Let's be clear from the start: this item is a 2D print. The design mimics a carved relief very convincingly, but the surface is perfectly smooth — no engraving, no volume, no cutouts. It is a quality print, not a carved piece. We would rather you know this before ordering than upon opening the package.
The story behind the motif
The endless knotwork, found carved on the portals of Norwegian stave churches, represents that which has neither beginning nor end. Nordic craftsmen covered door thresholds with it: crossing the door meant entering a protected space.

Installation and maintenance
Lightweight, it can be fixed to almost any surface: nail, screw, adhesive pad, or double-sided tape, depending on your wall. A soft, slightly damp cloth is enough to maintain it; avoid abrasive products that would mark the print. Recommended for indoor use.

Which wall for a 20 cm disc?
| What the disc shows | The wall where it works | Space to allow |
|---|---|---|
| A word you can read from afar, Welcome or Valhalla this product | Entrance, landing, garage or workshop door: the words speak to whoever arrives. | One disc is enough, at about 1.60 m from the floor. 20 cm wide, the width of an A4 sheet: it fits in a narrow hallway. |
| A coat of arms built around symmetry | Games room, garage, workshop wall: the radiating design holds its own in the middle of a panel. | Leave 60 cm of free wall around it; next to a corner or a shelf, the symmetry is lost. |
| A close-up animal, wolf or dragon | Study, headboard, reading corner: it reads well from one meter away. | Centered above a screen or a 60 to 80 cm shelf, a single disc balances the whole. |
| A complete scene, ship or feast | Above a sofa or a sideboard, but in a group: alone on a 2 m wall, 20 cm gets lost. | Three discs 10 cm apart cover 80 cm; in a column along a staircase, allow 30 cm between two centers. |
| A geometric symbol, with no figure or face | Kitchen, bar corner, understated study: the most discreet design, it suits a room without a theme. | Narrow enough to fit between two wall cabinets; allow 40 cm above a countertop. |
