The Most Visible in the Collection
This Viking sweatshirt does not seek discretion: saturated red over the entire surface, with a large black skull splashed in the center of the chest and friezes of runes running down the body and sleeves. The back features the same skull in a larger format. Find it in our Viking sweatshirt collection.
Its exact opposite can be found in the same section: the black and gray runic medallion is designed to be inconspicuous.
What Sets This Sweatshirt Apart
The all-over red is a gamble: it forgives neither a weak motif nor a sloppy print.
- A single background color: no gradients, no texture. The red is solid, which gives the black all its strength.
- Stencil treatment: the skull and runes are applied in splashed flat tints, an urban graphic vocabulary rather than a medieval one — and it's intentional.
- Visible from a great distance: no other piece in the section can be seen from this distance, including the most dense prints.
- Continuous frieze of runes: they frame the skull instead of floating around it, which structures a composition that could quickly become messy.
For red in a more elaborate composition, see the confronting dragons model.

Did you know?
Runes were not reserved for magic or commemorative stones. Excavations at the Bryggen wharf in Bergen have yielded over six hundred inscriptions carved on wooden sticks since 1955, dating mainly from the 12th and 13th centuries: merchandise receipts, property tags, messages between neighbors, writing exercises, and a few quite direct declarations of love. This is the corpus that best demonstrated that the runic alphabet was primarily used for everyday life.

Which print style to choose?
| Print type | What it looks like | When to choose it |
|---|---|---|
| Placed design | The body of the sweatshirt stays plain: the design is limited to the chest, the sleeves and the back. | When you want to wear the garment without the design ruling your day. It is also the only model available in fourteen color and ink combinations. |
| All-over print this product | The fabric is printed before assembly: front, back, sleeves, hood and right up to the seams. | When the garment is meant to be seen. Fifteen different designs, all in polyester, from 2XS to 4XL. |
| All-over print, finer artwork | The same full coverage, but a more detailed drawing and an acrylic, polyester and elastane knit. | When you look at a garment up close before buying it, or if polyester alone feels too stiff. Sizes up to 5XL, and up to 6XL for the zip-up model. |
Choosing your size
The manufacturer provides no size chart for the sweatshirts in this range. We would rather tell you so than publish a measurement chart we would have made up.
The method that never fails: take a sweatshirt you already wear and that fits you well. Lay it flat and measure from one armpit seam to the other. Write this number down: it is your benchmark. You are comparing one garment with another, without going through a theoretical size, and theoretical sizes are precisely what vary from one manufacturer to another.
The cut runs small: narrower in the shoulders and shorter in the body than a European cut of the same size. If you are between two sizes, take the larger one: this is the advice that avoids the most returns.
A word about the letters. Beyond XXL, these labels follow no common standard: a 4XL, 5XL or 6XL has no fixed equivalent, and the same letter does not mean the same thing from one manufacturer to another. Do not trust the letter, trust the centimeter.
Is the red bright or dark?
Bright. It's the only truly colorful garment in this section: a saturated red over the whole surface, with the design in black on top.
Is the skull realistic?
No, it's rendered in spattered flat black, closer to a stencil than to anatomy. The runes around it get the same treatment.
Does the back have the same design?
The back repeats the skull in a larger size, with friezes of runes running down the sides.
Will this red fade in the wash?
Washing at 30 °C inside out, without fabric softener, preserves the saturation. Avoid the dryer, which dulls bright colors faster than dark ones.
