A Drakkar in a Medallion
This Viking drakkar t-shirt encloses a ship in full sail within a round medallion bordered by interlace, with the inscription Viking World Tour and the dates 793-1066 in red below the hull. The lines are white, sharp, and distinct—the aesthetic is that of a patch rather than an illustration. Find this model in our viking t-shirts collection.
The same design is available in a small format placed over the heart, for those who prefer a discreet print.
What Sets This T-Shirt Apart
A circular patch only works if the edge is sharp and the interior remains legible.
- Interlace border: the circle is closed by a continuous braid, giving the design the look of a crest rather than a floating drawing.
- Ship in profile: square sail, shields aligned along the gunwale, raised prow—the three elements that make a drakkar recognizable at a glance.
- Dates in red: the only touch of color in the design, placed under the hull, which catches the eye without unbalancing the whole.
- Cotton: soft drape and summer comfort, for a design that can be worn directly against the skin.

Choosing Your Size
The manufacturer does not provide a measurement chart for this model. Rather than leaving you without a reference, here is an estimated range, calculated from the two adult size charts documented for other models in the category. These are orders of magnitude, not guaranteed measurements—we prefer to be clear about that.
| Size | Flat Width | Chest Circumference |
|---|---|---|
| S | 49 to 51 cm | 98 to 102 cm |
| M | 51 to 54 cm | 102 to 108 cm |
| L | 53 to 57 cm | 106 to 114 cm |
| XL | 55 to 60 cm | 110 to 120 cm |
| 2XL | 57 to 63 cm | 114 to 126 cm |
| 3XL | 59 to 66 cm | 118 to 132 cm |
| 4XL | 61 to 69 cm | 122 to 138 cm |
| 5XL | 63 to 72 cm | 126 to 144 cm |
| 6XL | 65 to 75 cm | 130 to 150 cm |
The range widens for larger sizes because the two known charts diverge starting from XL: one increases by 4 cm per size, the other by 6.
The foolproof method: take a t-shirt you already own that fits you well. Lay it flat and measure from one armpit seam to the other. Compare this number with the Flat Width column: no calculations needed. You are comparing garment to garment, without relying on a theoretical size—and it is precisely these theoretical sizes that vary from one manufacturer to another.
The fit runs small: narrower in the shoulders and shorter in the body than a European cut of the equivalent size. When between two sizes, choose the larger one: this is the advice that prevents the most returns.
A word on the letters. These sizes follow a specific nomenclature, and beyond XXL, standard Western ready-to-wear rarely uses them: a 4XL, 5XL, or 6XL does not correspond to any standard local size. Worse, the same letter does not mean the same thing from one manufacturer to another: in this category, an "L" can range from 94 to 112 cm in chest circumference depending on the model. Do not trust the letter; trust the centimeter.

Did you know?
The word "drakkar" never existed in Old Norse. It is a 19th-century French distortion: Scandinavians said dreki in the singular, drekar in the plural, to designate a dragon-headed ship, and French romantic scholars mistook the plural for a singular, adding an extra 'k'. Norse sources mainly speak of skeið, snekkja, or more simply langskip, the longship. As for the dates on the medallion, they are the academic convention: 793 for the raid on Lindisfarne, 1066 for the death of Harald Hardrada at Stamford Bridge. Two convenient markers, chosen by English historians—the Scandinavians of the time, for their part, never felt they were living within a bracketed era.

What is the difference from the other World Tour model?
Only the size of the print. This one has the medallion printed large in the center of the chest; the other shrinks it to a small crest over the heart. The design is identical.
What do the dates 793 and 1066 mean?
They are the conventional boundaries of the Viking Age: the raid on Lindisfarne in 793 and the Battle of Stamford Bridge in 1066. A convention among historians, not something people experienced at the time.
Is the red of the dates bright?
It is a deep red, not a signal red. It stands out clearly against the black without overpowering the white of the ship.
Is the back of the T-shirt plain?
Yes, the back is plain black. The whole print is on the chest.
