The All-Father, Framed by His Two Ravens
This all-over print Viking sweatshirt features a portrait of a helmeted Odin in the center of the chest, framed by Huginn and Muninn, his two ravens, rendered like him in black knotwork on a light background. The back extends the scene with a composition of knots and runes. Find it in our Viking sweatshirt collection.
The same figure exists in a red and black version on the blood-red model, which is significantly darker.
What Sets This Sweatshirt Apart
Representing a face in knotwork is a delicate exercise: too many lines and the figure disappears; not enough, and the style is lost.
- A legible face: the helmet, beard, and gaze remain identifiable despite the density of the knots—this is not the case for all prints of this kind.
- Light background: off-white dominates, which reverses the usual convention and makes the garment easier to wear in spring than a black model.
- Symmetrical ravens: Huginn and Muninn mirror each other exactly on either side, wings spread—the composition is structured, not merely decorative.
- Different front and back: two distinct compositions, whereas many printed sweatshirts simply duplicate the pattern.
For the ravens alone, without the human figure, see the interlaced ravens model.

Did you know?
The Grímnismál attributes an unexpected anxiety to Odin: "Huginn and Muninn fly every day over the vast earth; I fear for Huginn that he may not return, but I fear more for Muninn." The two names roughly mean "thought" and "memory," and the god's admission—fearing the loss of memory more than that of thought—has been interpreted by several commentators, including Rudolf Simek, as a late projection of shamanic concerns onto an older divine figure. The text itself does not provide a definitive answer.

Which print style to choose?
| Print type | What it looks like | When to choose it |
|---|---|---|
| Placed design | The body of the sweatshirt stays plain: the design is limited to the chest, the sleeves and the back. | When you want to wear the garment without the design ruling your day. It is also the only model available in fourteen color and ink combinations. |
| All-over print this product | The fabric is printed before assembly: front, back, sleeves, hood and right up to the seams. | When the garment is meant to be seen. Fifteen different designs, all in polyester, from 2XS to 4XL. |
| All-over print, finer artwork | The same full coverage, but a more detailed drawing and an acrylic, polyester and elastane knit. | When you look at a garment up close before buying it, or if polyester alone feels too stiff. Sizes up to 5XL, and up to 6XL for the zip-up model. |
Choosing your size
The manufacturer provides no size chart for the sweatshirts in this range. We would rather tell you so than publish a measurement chart we would have made up.
The method that never fails: take a sweatshirt you already wear and that fits you well. Lay it flat and measure from one armpit seam to the other. Write this number down: it is your benchmark. You are comparing one garment with another, without going through a theoretical size, and theoretical sizes are precisely what vary from one manufacturer to another.
The cut runs small: narrower in the shoulders and shorter in the body than a European cut of the same size. If you are between two sizes, take the larger one: this is the advice that avoids the most returns.
A word about the letters. Beyond XXL, these labels follow no common standard: a 4XL, 5XL or 6XL has no fixed equivalent, and the same letter does not mean the same thing from one manufacturer to another. Do not trust the letter, trust the centimeter.
Who is the figure in the center?
Odin, recognizable by the helmet and the two ravens perched on either side of his head — Huginn and Muninn. The treatment is graphic, not realistic: it is a portrait in knotwork.
Is the design the same on the front and back?
No. The portrait takes up the chest; the back carries a composition of knotwork and runes that extends the scene without repeating it.
Why so much white on a Norse design?
The light background makes the black lines stand out, as in an engraving. It is the opposite approach to the black sweatshirts in the range, where the design is left light against a dark background.
Is this sweatshirt also suitable for women?
Yes, the cut is unisex. Sizes go down to 2XS, which is rare for this type of garment.
