Two Birds, One Knot
This Viking sweatshirt features two white ravens on the chest, wings crossed in the center and bodies knotted into a single interlacing pattern — Huginn and Muninn treated as a single motif rather than two separate figures. The sleeves feature similar ink-style interlacing, and the back displays a denser composition without birds. Find it in our Viking sweatshirt collection.
For ravens accompanied by the figure of Odin, see the Odin and Ravens model.
What Sets This Sweatshirt Apart
Knitting two animals into a single motif is the very principle of Scandinavian art. However, both must remain recognizable.
- Two birds, one motif: the bodies cross without losing the silhouette of either — this is the test that this type of composition often fails.
- Maximum contrast: stark white on deep black, with no intermediate grey. The motif stands out from a distance.
- Subject on the front, ornament on the back: the distribution avoids duplicating the same design on both sides.
- Blended knit: acrylic, polyester, and elastane, softer than polyester alone.
For a single raven, treated in color and in a very large format, see the golden raven.

Did you know?
The raven appeared on actual standards. Several Anglo-Saxon and Norman sources mention the Hrafnsmerki, the "raven banner," carried by Scandinavian leaders; the Encomium Emmae Reginae, written around 1041, even claims that the embroidered bird would flap its wings before a victory and remain still before a defeat. No examples have survived, and descriptions vary too much to reconstruct the object — but the existence of the emblem itself is attested to by opposing sides.

Which print style to choose?
| Print type | What it looks like | When to choose it |
|---|---|---|
| Placed design | The body of the sweatshirt stays plain: the design is limited to the chest, the sleeves and the back. | When you want to wear the garment without the design ruling your day. It is also the only model available in fourteen color and ink combinations. |
| All-over print | The fabric is printed before assembly: front, back, sleeves, hood and right up to the seams. | When the garment is meant to be seen. Fifteen different designs, all in polyester, from 2XS to 4XL. |
| All-over print, finer artwork this product | The same full coverage, but a more detailed drawing and an acrylic, polyester and elastane knit. | When you look at a garment up close before buying it, or if polyester alone feels too stiff. Sizes up to 5XL, and up to 6XL for the zip-up model. |
Choosing your size
The manufacturer provides no size chart for the sweatshirts in this range. We would rather tell you so than publish a measurement chart we would have made up.
The method that never fails: take a sweatshirt you already wear and that fits you well. Lay it flat and measure from one armpit seam to the other. Write this number down: it is your benchmark. You are comparing one garment with another, without going through a theoretical size, and theoretical sizes are precisely what vary from one manufacturer to another.
The cut runs small: narrower in the shoulders and shorter in the body than a European cut of the same size. If you are between two sizes, take the larger one: this is the advice that avoids the most returns.
A word about the letters. Beyond XXL, these labels follow no common standard: a 4XL, 5XL or 6XL has no fixed equivalent, and the same letter does not mean the same thing from one manufacturer to another. Do not trust the letter, trust the centimeter.
Do the two ravens touch?
Their wings cross in the center of the chest and their bodies knot together into a single interlace. They are two birds, but one design.
Is the white pure white?
Yes, the lines are crisp against the black. It is the highest contrast in the family, which makes the design legible from a distance.
Is the back printed?
Yes, with a denser knotwork composition and no birds — the main subject stays on the front.
How many sizes are available?
Eight, from S to 5XL.
