A Golden Raven on a Carved-Stone Background
This Viking sweatshirt spreads a large golden knotwork raven from the left shoulder down to the chest, wing open. Below it, four lines of golden runes run across the lower torso, laid out as on a carved stone. The ink is a warm matte gold, with no metallic sheen. Find it in our Viking sweatshirts collection.
The same bird comes in turquoise or blue on the raven and Vegvísir design.
What Sets This Sweatshirt Apart
Printed gold almost always misses the mark: too light and it turns yellow, too dark and it turns brown.
- A gold that holds up: the ink stays warm and legible on black, without turning mustard yellow like so many gold prints on fabric.
- Runes in lines, not in a frieze: the layout in four regular registers echoes the runestones rather than a simple decorative band.
- Diagonal composition: the raven starts from the shoulder, which brings movement where a centered design would have stayed static.
- Blended knit: acrylic, polyester and elastane, softer than polyester alone.
For gold paired with a second color, see the gold and turquoise design.

Did You Know?
Scandinavia has more than three thousand runestones, about half of them in Sweden alone — the province of Uppland by itself accounts for more than a thousand. Almost all date from the 11th century, that is, from the end of the Viking period and the beginning of Christianization: the monumental fashion for carved stones is not the heart of the Viking Age, it is its epilogue. Many of them, in fact, bear a cross next to the runic text.

Which print style to choose?
| Print type | What it looks like | When to choose it |
|---|---|---|
| Placed design | The body of the sweatshirt stays plain: the design is limited to the chest, the sleeves and the back. | When you want to wear the garment without the design ruling your day. It is also the only model available in fourteen color and ink combinations. |
| All-over print | The fabric is printed before assembly: front, back, sleeves, hood and right up to the seams. | When the garment is meant to be seen. Fifteen different designs, all in polyester, from 2XS to 4XL. |
| All-over print, finer artwork this product | The same full coverage, but a more detailed drawing and an acrylic, polyester and elastane knit. | When you look at a garment up close before buying it, or if polyester alone feels too stiff. Sizes up to 5XL, and up to 6XL for the zip-up model. |
Choosing your size
The manufacturer provides no size chart for the sweatshirts in this range. We would rather tell you so than publish a measurement chart we would have made up.
The method that never fails: take a sweatshirt you already wear and that fits you well. Lay it flat and measure from one armpit seam to the other. Write this number down: it is your benchmark. You are comparing one garment with another, without going through a theoretical size, and theoretical sizes are precisely what vary from one manufacturer to another.
The cut runs small: narrower in the shoulders and shorter in the body than a European cut of the same size. If you are between two sizes, take the larger one: this is the advice that avoids the most returns.
A word about the letters. Beyond XXL, these labels follow no common standard: a 4XL, 5XL or 6XL has no fixed equivalent, and the same letter does not mean the same thing from one manufacturer to another. Do not trust the letter, trust the centimeter.
Is the gold metallic?
No. It is a matte gold ink, with no glitter or metallic sheen. It looks like a warm ocher on black.
What do the gold lines at the bottom represent?
Runic inscriptions arranged in four even lines across the lower torso, like a carved stone. They are decorative and do not form a translatable text.
Does the raven cover the whole front?
It starts at the left shoulder and spreads across the whole chest, wing outstretched. The left sleeve continues the design; the right one stays black.
Does this model run large?
No, the cut runs rather small. If you are between two sizes, take the larger one.
