A Raven in Flight, Three Superimposed Symbols
This Viking sweatshirt features a large raven of Odin in mid-flight at the center of the chest, wings spread toward the right shoulder. Behind it, a Vegvísir disc; on its chest, a Valknut; and below the entire design, lines of runes printed in black-on-black give the bottom of the garment a woven texture. Available in two motif colors: turquoise or royal blue. Find it in our Viking sweatshirt collection.
The same raven is available in a gold-treated version on the golden raven model.
What Sets This Sweatshirt Apart
Superimposing three symbols on the same chest is the quickest way to end up with a graphic mess. Here, the hierarchy holds.
- A single motif color: the entire design is rendered in a single shade against a black background, which unifies symbols that otherwise have nothing in common.
- Tone-on-tone runes: the friezes at the bottom are printed in a slightly lighter black — visible up close, invisible from afar, they adorn without cluttering.
- Asymmetrical sleeves: the right is covered in interlacing patterns down to the wrist, while the left remains almost bare. The garment has a distinct sense of direction.
- Two colors, one design: the choice depends on the mood, not the motif — softer turquoise, or bolder royal blue.
For the same family of symbols in a sober version, the plain model in fourteen colors keeps the body of the garment blank.

Did you know?
Odin's ravens are more than just a literary image: they appear on very real objects. The Torslunda helmet plates, cast in bronze on the island of Öland in the 6th or 7th century, show a dancing warrior wearing a headdress topped with two bird heads — iconography that archaeologists associate with the god and his messengers. It is one of the rare material attestations predating the texts, which were not written until the 13th century.

Which print style to choose?
| Print type | What it looks like | When to choose it |
|---|---|---|
| Placed design | The body of the sweatshirt stays plain: the design is limited to the chest, the sleeves and the back. | When you want to wear the garment without the design ruling your day. It is also the only model available in fourteen color and ink combinations. |
| All-over print this product | The fabric is printed before assembly: front, back, sleeves, hood and right up to the seams. | When the garment is meant to be seen. Fifteen different designs, all in polyester, from 2XS to 4XL. |
| All-over print, finer artwork | The same full coverage, but a more detailed drawing and an acrylic, polyester and elastane knit. | When you look at a garment up close before buying it, or if polyester alone feels too stiff. Sizes up to 5XL, and up to 6XL for the zip-up model. |
Choosing your size
The manufacturer provides no size chart for the sweatshirts in this range. We would rather tell you so than publish a measurement chart we would have made up.
The method that never fails: take a sweatshirt you already wear and that fits you well. Lay it flat and measure from one armpit seam to the other. Write this number down: it is your benchmark. You are comparing one garment with another, without going through a theoretical size, and theoretical sizes are precisely what vary from one manufacturer to another.
The cut runs small: narrower in the shoulders and shorter in the body than a European cut of the same size. If you are between two sizes, take the larger one: this is the advice that avoids the most returns.
A word about the letters. Beyond XXL, these labels follow no common standard: a 4XL, 5XL or 6XL has no fixed equivalent, and the same letter does not mean the same thing from one manufacturer to another. Do not trust the letter, trust the centimeter.
What's the difference between the turquoise and the blue?
Only the color of the design changes. The garment itself is black in both cases: the turquoise leans toward blue-green, while the blue is a true royal blue. The design is exactly the same.
How many symbols does the design contain?
Three, layered: the raven in flight in the foreground, the Vegvísir in a disc behind it, and the Valknut on its breast. The bottom of the garment also carries lines of runes.
Is the raven printed on the back too?
The back repeats the composition at the same density. The right sleeve is entirely covered in knotwork, while the left stays plainer — the asymmetry is intentional.
Are the runes at the bottom legible?
They're printed black on black, deliberately low in contrast: you glimpse them more than read them. It's a texture effect.
