A Golden Compass Against a Stormy Backdrop
This all-over print Viking sweatshirt features a large golden Vegvísir at the center of the chest, set against a deep turquoise background with a marbled effect—darker at the shoulders, brighter in the center. Below the symbol, knotted roots descend toward the bottom of the garment, and the sleeves are covered in golden interlacing patterns down to the cuffs. Discover it in our Viking sweatshirt collection.
The same symbol is available in a more understated version on the plain model in fourteen colors, where it only appears on the back.
What Sets This Sweatshirt Apart
On an all-over printed garment, everything depends on the background: a flat, solid color dulls the design, while a worked background elevates it.
- Marbled background, not solid: the turquoise shifts from a dark blue-green to a light turquoise, giving the golden symbol a depth that printing alone cannot produce.
- A rare color: the Norse clothing section is predominantly black or grey. This turquoise stands out without being gaudy.
- Knotted roots: the bottom of the design extends the Vegvísir into vegetal interlacing rather than a simple border, covering the garment down to the hem.
- Printing before assembly: the pattern continues across the seams without any breaks or misalignments at the shoulders.
For a similar golden treatment but on a black background, see the gold and turquoise interlacing model.

Did you know?
Scandinavians of the Viking Age navigated without a compass—the instrument only appeared in Europe in the 12th century. They oriented themselves by latitude, by measuring the sun's altitude at noon, and the solar compass fragment found in 1948 in Uunartoq, Greenland, may have been one of their instruments: a graduated wooden disc where the shadow of the gnomon, compared to a drawn curve, indicated the deviation from their heading. The debate over its exact function remains open. What is certain is that no Vegvísir guided them: the symbol postdates their voyages by several centuries.

Which print style to choose?
| Print type | What it looks like | When to choose it |
|---|---|---|
| Placed design | The body of the sweatshirt stays plain: the design is limited to the chest, the sleeves and the back. | When you want to wear the garment without the design ruling your day. It is also the only model available in fourteen color and ink combinations. |
| All-over print this product | The fabric is printed before assembly: front, back, sleeves, hood and right up to the seams. | When the garment is meant to be seen. Fifteen different designs, all in polyester, from 2XS to 4XL. |
| All-over print, finer artwork | The same full coverage, but a more detailed drawing and an acrylic, polyester and elastane knit. | When you look at a garment up close before buying it, or if polyester alone feels too stiff. Sizes up to 5XL, and up to 6XL for the zip-up model. |
Choosing your size
The manufacturer provides no size chart for the sweatshirts in this range. We would rather tell you so than publish a measurement chart we would have made up.
The method that never fails: take a sweatshirt you already wear and that fits you well. Lay it flat and measure from one armpit seam to the other. Write this number down: it is your benchmark. You are comparing one garment with another, without going through a theoretical size, and theoretical sizes are precisely what vary from one manufacturer to another.
The cut runs small: narrower in the shoulders and shorter in the body than a European cut of the same size. If you are between two sizes, take the larger one: this is the advice that avoids the most returns.
A word about the letters. Beyond XXL, these labels follow no common standard: a 4XL, 5XL or 6XL has no fixed equivalent, and the same letter does not mean the same thing from one manufacturer to another. Do not trust the letter, trust the centimeter.
Does the print really cover the whole garment?
Yes. The design is printed on all of the fabric before assembly: front, back, sleeves, hood and right up to the seams. There is no plain area at all.
Is the turquoise even?
No, and that is intentional. The background has a marbled effect, darker toward the shoulders and brighter at the center of the chest, which gives depth to the gold-tone Vegvísir printed on top.
Is the gold shiny or matte?
It is a print, not gilding: the finish is matte, like the rest of the design. No relief, no metallic shine.
Does this model fit like a French sweatshirt?
No. The cut follows a smaller sizing pattern, narrower at the shoulders. If you are between two sizes, take the larger one.
