The Vegvísir on the Back, Nothing in Front
This Viking hoodie takes the opposite approach to all-over prints: the body remains solid, and the graphic is reserved for three specific areas—a stylized wing design on the chest, two rune friezes running down the sleeves, and a large Vegvísir printed in the center of the back. You wear it from the front like an ordinary sweatshirt; it only reveals itself when you turn around. Find it in our Viking sweatshirt collection.
If you prefer the opposite—a garment completely covered in patterns—the Gold Vegvísir on a turquoise background treats the same symbol as an all-over print.
What Sets This Hoodie Apart
It is the only model in the department available in fourteen combinations, and the only cut where the color of the garment matters as much as the design.
- Seven garment colors: black, white, gray, navy, red, yellow, and pink—enough to break away from the systematic black that most Nordic-themed hoodies are limited to.
- Two inks per color: each shade exists with a red design and a black or white design. The same navy sweatshirt becomes subtle or boldly contrasted depending on the chosen ink.
- Placed print, not all-over: solid zones remain solid. An all-over print garment is noticeable under all circumstances; this one can also be worn on days when you don't want to be noticed.
- Kangaroo pocket and drawstring hood: the cut remains that of a classic hoodie, with no fancy construction.
For a piece in the same spirit but entirely graphic, see the Odin's Raven on Vegvísir.

Did you know?
The Vegvísir is not a symbol of the Viking Age. Its oldest known trace is found in the Huld, an Icelandic manuscript compiled in 1860 by Geir Vigfússon—nearly eight centuries after the end of the Viking period. The word itself translates to "that which shows the way" (vegur, the way; vísir, the indicator), and the note that accompanies it in the manuscript promises the wearer that they will not lose their way in a storm. Archaeologists have found no occurrences of it on medieval objects: it is a galdrastafur, a sign from a late Icelandic grimoire, since adopted by modern Nordic culture.

Which print style to choose?
| Print type | What it looks like | When to choose it |
|---|---|---|
| Placed design this product | The body of the sweatshirt stays plain: the design is limited to the chest, the sleeves and the back. | When you want to wear the garment without the design ruling your day. It is also the only model available in fourteen color and ink combinations. |
| All-over print | The fabric is printed before assembly: front, back, sleeves, hood and right up to the seams. | When the garment is meant to be seen. Fifteen different designs, all in polyester, from 2XS to 4XL. |
| All-over print, finer artwork | The same full coverage, but a more detailed drawing and an acrylic, polyester and elastane knit. | When you look at a garment up close before buying it, or if polyester alone feels too stiff. Sizes up to 5XL, and up to 6XL for the zip-up model. |
Choosing your size
The manufacturer provides no size chart for the sweatshirts in this range. We would rather tell you so than publish a measurement chart we would have made up.
The method that never fails: take a sweatshirt you already wear and that fits you well. Lay it flat and measure from one armpit seam to the other. Write this number down: it is your benchmark. You are comparing one garment with another, without going through a theoretical size, and theoretical sizes are precisely what vary from one manufacturer to another.
The cut runs small: narrower in the shoulders and shorter in the body than a European cut of the same size. If you are between two sizes, take the larger one: this is the advice that avoids the most returns.
A word about the letters. Beyond XXL, these labels follow no common standard: a 4XL, 5XL or 6XL has no fixed equivalent, and the same letter does not mean the same thing from one manufacturer to another. Do not trust the letter, trust the centimeter.
Is the design printed all over the sweatshirt?
No. The body stays plain: the design is limited to a small pair of spread wings on the chest, two bands of runes along the sleeves and the Vegvísir printed on the back. It is the most understated model in our sweatshirt range.
What is the difference between the two versions of the same color?
The color of the design. “Black, red design” and “Black, white design” are exactly the same black sweatshirt: only the ink of the Vegvísir, the runes and the wings changes. Check the color swatch before choosing.
Do the runes on the sleeves mean anything?
They are Younger Futhark characters, arranged as a decorative frieze. They do not spell out a word: it is a graphic pattern, not an inscription to translate.
Is the sweatshirt lined?
It is a fleece-backed knit of standard thickness, suited to fall and mild winters. It is not a technical garment for extreme cold.
