A Flight Before the Moon
This viking sweatshirt silhouettes a raven in full flight against a large, bright lunar disc, on a background that gradually transitions from the deep black of the hem to the luminous gray of the shoulders. The right sleeve features light interlace patterns, while the left remains dark. Find it in our viking sweatshirt collection.
For the same bird rendered in solid color, see the turquoise or blue model.
What Sets This Sweatshirt Apart
A textile gradient is difficult to print without visible bands. This one transitions seamlessly.
- The only gradient in the range: twenty-five models use solid colors; this one builds depth from bottom to top.
- A silhouette, not a drawing: the raven is treated as a shadow play against the moon—readability is immediate, even from a distance.
- Asymmetrical sleeves: one light, one dark, which extends the gradient of the body rather than contradicting it.
- A grayed-out moon: the disc is not pure white, which integrates it into the garment instead of making it stand out too sharply.
For another celestial scene, this time with two wolves, see the Sköll and Hati model.

Did you know?
In Old Norse, the moon is a masculine word — Máni — and the sun is a feminine word, Sól. The Gylfaginning describes them as a brother and sister, children of a man named Mundilfari, condemned to drive their chariots across the sky. This gender inversion compared to Latin and French is not an isolated curiosity: it is found in all Germanic languages, and German still preserves it today with der Mond and die Sonne.

Which print style to choose?
| Print type | What it looks like | When to choose it |
|---|---|---|
| Placed design | The body of the sweatshirt stays plain: the design is limited to the chest, the sleeves and the back. | When you want to wear the garment without the design ruling your day. It is also the only model available in fourteen color and ink combinations. |
| All-over print | The fabric is printed before assembly: front, back, sleeves, hood and right up to the seams. | When the garment is meant to be seen. Fifteen different designs, all in polyester, from 2XS to 4XL. |
| All-over print, finer artwork this product | The same full coverage, but a more detailed drawing and an acrylic, polyester and elastane knit. | When you look at a garment up close before buying it, or if polyester alone feels too stiff. Sizes up to 5XL, and up to 6XL for the zip-up model. |
Choosing your size
The manufacturer provides no size chart for the sweatshirts in this range. We would rather tell you so than publish a measurement chart we would have made up.
The method that never fails: take a sweatshirt you already wear and that fits you well. Lay it flat and measure from one armpit seam to the other. Write this number down: it is your benchmark. You are comparing one garment with another, without going through a theoretical size, and theoretical sizes are precisely what vary from one manufacturer to another.
The cut runs small: narrower in the shoulders and shorter in the body than a European cut of the same size. If you are between two sizes, take the larger one: this is the advice that avoids the most returns.
A word about the letters. Beyond XXL, these labels follow no common standard: a 4XL, 5XL or 6XL has no fixed equivalent, and the same letter does not mean the same thing from one manufacturer to another. Do not trust the letter, trust the centimeter.
Is the raven in front of or behind the moon?
In front. Its black silhouette stands out against the light disc, which makes the design instantly readable.
Is the gradient even?
It goes from deep black at the bottom of the garment to light gray toward the shoulders, without a break. It is the only model in the range built on a gradient.
Is there a design on the sleeve?
Yes, the right sleeve is covered in light knotwork down to the wrist. The left one stays dark, continuing the bottom of the garment.
Is the white of the moon pure white?
It is slightly grayish, which avoids the glowing-hole effect that pure white would create on black.
