A Raven That Opens Across the Back
This Viking raven t-shirt is the only one in our range with its main design printed on the back: a large raven with outstretched wings, treated with an ink-wash style, topped with a Vegvísir and extended downwards by a column of runic staves. What Sets This T-Shirt Apart
A back print is not chosen like a chest print: it is seen when you leave, not when you arrive.
- Large back format: the raven's wingspan occupies almost the entire width of the shoulder blades: it is the largest print in our range.
- Two colors: white or black, your choice, with the inverted motif — one of the few models in our shop to offer a true color option.
- Ink drips: the bottom of the wings dissolves into drops that join the runic column: the design doesn't end abruptly, it descends.
- Cotton: a supple knit and a slightly looser cut, which allows the back design to spread out without wrinkling.

Choosing Your Size
These measurements are for the garment laid flat, not your body. The width is measured from one armpit seam to the other; the chest circumference is this width multiplied by two. Please allow for a tolerance of one to two centimeters: these garments are measured by hand.

The foolproof method: take a t-shirt you already own and that fits you well. Lay it flat and measure from one armpit seam to the other. Use this figure for the Width flat column: no calculations required. You are thus comparing garment to garment, without relying on a theoretical size — and it is precisely these theoretical sizes that vary from one manufacturer to another.
The cut runs small: narrower in the shoulders and shorter in the body than a European cut of an equivalent size. If you are between two sizes, take the larger one: this is the advice that prevents the most returns.
A word about the letters. These sizes follow a specific nomenclature, and beyond XXL, standard sizing is rarely used in the same way: a 4XL, 5XL, or 6XL does not correspond to any common standard size. Worse, the same letter does not mean the same thing from one manufacturer to another: in this range, an "L" can range from 94 to 112 cm in chest circumference depending on the model. Do not rely on the letter, rely on the centimeter.

Did You Know?
Ravens truly accompanied Scandinavian armies, and poetry systematized it to the point of making it a standard figure. In skaldic language, one does not say "win a battle": one says "feed the raven," "satiate the bird of carnage," or "give the swan of blood to drink." These kennings were so widespread that a 10th-century listener immediately understood what was meant. The poem Hrafnsmál, composed around 900, goes so far as to build its entire narrative on a dialogue between a valkyrie and a raven that has followed King Harald Fairhair since his birth.

Is there anything printed on the chest?
No. The front is plain and the whole print is on the back. It's the only model in this section designed that way.
What's the difference between the white and the black?
The garment and the design are reversed: a black raven on a white T-shirt, or a white raven on a black T-shirt. The artwork is identical.
Is the cut the same as the other models?
It's slightly looser, with slightly dropped shoulders. The size chart above gives the exact chest measurements, from S to 3XL.
What does “feeding the raven” mean?
It's a skaldic kenning meaning to win a battle. The poets of the 10th century almost never used the plain word: to win was to sate the bird of carnage.
