Black on One Side, White on the Other
This all-over print Viking t-shirt splits the garment in two: one half black with white patterns, one half white with black patterns, with a stylized Norse dragon crossing the dividing line. The contrast is head-on, with no gradients — it is the most graphic model in the department. Find this model in our Viking t-shirt collection.
For a dragon treated in a more classic medallion style, see the runic medallion dragon, in cotton.
What Sets This T-Shirt Apart
Strict bichromasy is the toughest test for a print: the slightest misalignment on the seam is immediately visible.
- Clean split: the dividing line crosses the chest and extends onto the back: this is proof that it is indeed an all-over print and not an assembly of two fabrics.
- Mirror pattern: the design is repeated in reverse on both sides, creating a yin and yang effect without ever explicitly naming the reference.
- Sublimation: such bold flat areas require ink fixed into the fiber: if applied to the surface, it would crack on the folds within a few weeks.
- Lightweight polyester: white stays white and black stays black, without the graying that two-tone cotton often takes on.
In the same vein of maximum contrast, the black and white helmeted Odin works with the same palette.
Choosing Your Size
These measurements are for the garment laid flat, not your body. The width is taken from one armpit seam to the other; the chest measurement is this width multiplied by two. Allow for a tolerance of one to two centimeters: these garments are measured by hand. The manufacturer does not provide measurements for XS.
| Size | Flat Width | Chest Measurement |
|---|---|---|
| XXS | 48 cm | 96 cm |
| S | 50 cm | 100 cm |
| M | 53 cm | 106 cm |
| L | 56 cm | 112 cm |
| XL | 59 cm | 118 cm |
| 2XL | 62 cm | 124 cm |
| 3XL | 65 cm | 130 cm |
| 4XL | 68 cm | 136 cm |
| 5XL | 71 cm | 142 cm |
The foolproof method: take a t-shirt you already wear that fits you well. Lay it flat and measure from one armpit seam to the other. Enter this number into the Flat Width column: no calculations needed. You are thus comparing garment to garment, without relying on a theoretical size — and it is precisely these theoretical sizes that vary from one manufacturer to another.
The cut runs small: narrower in the shoulders and shorter in the body than a European cut of the equivalent size. If between two sizes, take the larger one: this is the advice that avoids the most returns.
A word on the letters. These sizes follow a specific nomenclature, and beyond XXL, ready-to-wear clothing in France practically does not use them: a 4XL, 5XL, or 6XL does not correspond to any common French size. Worse, the same letter does not mean the same thing from one manufacturer to another: in this department, an "L" ranges from 94 to 112 cm in chest circumference depending on the model. Do not trust the letter, trust the centimeter.

Did you know?
The dragon of Old Norse texts is not a Western fairy-tale dragon. Jörmungandr, the Midgard Serpent, is so long that it encircles the world, biting its own tail at the bottom of the ocean. The Hymiskviða recounts that Thor went fishing with an ox head as bait, hooked the beast, and hoisted it up to the gunwale — and that the giant Hymir, terrified, cut the line. Only two figures will meet at Ragnarök: Thor kills the serpent, then takes nine steps and falls, killed by its venom. The fishing scene is one of the rare mythological episodes of which we possess several engraved representations from the era, notably on the Altuna stone in Sweden.

Is the T-shirt made of two fabrics sewn together?
No. It is a single garment printed by sublimation: the black and white split is part of the design and continues onto the back.
Is the design the same on the front and back?
It is continuous but not identical: the design carries on and reverses, which gives the garment a different look depending on the angle.
Does the white get dirty quickly?
It is polyester, which holds greasy stains less than cotton does and dries faster after washing. The collar is still the first area to show marks.
Does this dragon have a name in mythology?
The design is a modern composition. The serpent-dragon of the Old Norse texts is called Jörmungandr: it encircles the world and bites its own tail.
