A Bear in a Blue Medallion
This Viking berserker t-shirt places a head-on bear's head within a blue circular medallion, ringed by a crown of runes and the word BERSERKER in capital letters. The treatment is graphic, all in white and blue hatching, with no gradients. Find this model in our Viking t-shirt collection.
For a human warrior rather than a bear, see the turquoise flame warrior.
What Sets This T-Shirt Apart
An animal seen from the front is the most difficult framing: symmetry requires flawless execution.
- Maintained symmetry: the muzzle falls exactly on the axis of the medallion, which is far from systematic on this type of print.
- Structuring blue: the blue background of the medallion isolates the animal from the black of the garment and gives the design its presence from a distance.
- Runic crown: the circle of runes and the word BERSERKER close the composition and provide scale.
- Cotton: the fine hatching renders better on a regular knit, and the blue holds up without fading.
If you prefer the wolf to the bear, the Odin's wolf occupies the same register.
Choosing Your Size
The manufacturer does not provide a measurement chart for this model. Rather than leaving you without a reference, here is an estimated range, calculated from two adult grids documented on other models in the department. These are orders of magnitude, not guaranteed measurements—we prefer to say so.
| Size | Flat Width | Chest Circumference |
|---|---|---|
| S | 49 to 51 cm | 98 to 102 cm |
| M | 51 to 54 cm | 102 to 108 cm |
| L | 53 to 57 cm | 106 to 114 cm |
| XL | 55 to 60 cm | 110 to 120 cm |
| 2XL | 57 to 63 cm | 114 to 126 cm |
| 3XL | 59 to 66 cm | 118 to 132 cm |
| 4XL | 61 to 69 cm | 122 to 138 cm |
| 5XL | 63 to 72 cm | 126 to 144 cm |
| 6XL | 65 to 75 cm | 130 to 150 cm |
The range widens for larger sizes because the two known grids diverge starting from XL: one increases by 4 cm per size, the other by 6.
The foolproof method: take a t-shirt you already wear and that fits you well. Lay it flat and measure from one armpit seam to the other. Enter this number in the Flat Width column: no calculations needed. You are thus comparing a garment to a garment, without going through a theoretical size—and it is precisely these theoretical sizes that vary from one manufacturer to another.
The fit runs small: narrower in the shoulders and shorter in the body than a European cut of an equivalent size. Between two sizes, take the larger one: this is the advice that avoids the most returns.
A word on the letters. These sizes follow a specific nomenclature, and beyond XXL, standard ready-to-wear clothing practically does not use them: a 4XL, 5XL, or 6XL does not correspond to any common standard size. Worse, the same letter does not mean the same thing from one manufacturer to another: in this department, an "L" ranges from 94 to 112 cm in chest circumference depending on the model. Do not trust the letter; trust the centimeter.

Did You Know?
The link between the bear and the warrior is not just an image: the word berserkr is most often broken down into ber-serkr, "bear-shirt." And excavations provide a very concrete reason for this association. In a large number of Scandinavian Iron Age and Viking Age graves, isolated bear phalanges are found without the rest of the skeleton. The accepted explanation is that the deceased rested on a bear skin that had its claws left attached: the fur has disappeared, the small finger bones have remained. The dead person therefore left wrapped in the animal—and archaeologists today count these phalanges to locate bear-skin burials.

What does berserker mean?
The Old Norse word berserkr is most often read as ber-serkr, “bear shirt,” referring to a skin worn in battle. A minority reading suggests “without a shirt,” in other words bare-chested.
Why are bear phalanges found in graves?
Because the deceased was laid on a bearskin whose claws were still attached. The fur is gone, but the small toe bones remain. Archaeologists use them to identify these burials.
Is the blue bright?
It's a clear blue but not an electric one, chosen to stand out from the black without overwhelming the white hatching.
Is the design large?
The medallion spans the width of the chest. It can be clearly made out from several meters away.
