A Wolf Between Two Interlace Columns
This Viking wolf t-shirt frames a stylized wolf head between two columns of Nordic interlace, with an English slogan distributed above and below in red and gold. The lines are clean, highly graphic, and without gradients. Find this model in our Viking t-shirt collection.
For a wolf treated as a painting rather than a line drawing, see the wolf on a background of embers.
What Sets This T-Shirt Apart
Framing a figure between two columns is a manuscript technique: it imposes a vertical reading and tightens the composition.
- Interlace columns: the two side bands frame the head and give the design the look of an illuminated page.
- Two accent colors: red and gold are used only for the text, leaving the wolf in white and keeping the hierarchy clear.
- Line-art wolf: the fur is constructed with outlined strands rather than masses, which keeps the pattern legible from a distance.
- Cotton: regular knit, essential so that the fine interlace does not close up.
If you are interested in the wolf alongside the raven, the model with confronting wolves covers the entire garment.
Choosing Your Size
The manufacturer does not provide a size chart for this model. Rather than leaving you without a reference, here is an estimated range, calculated from the two adult grids documented on other models in the department. These are orders of magnitude, not guaranteed measurements — we prefer to be upfront about this.
| Size | Flat Width | Chest Circumference |
|---|---|---|
| S | 49 to 51 cm | 98 to 102 cm |
| M | 51 to 54 cm | 102 to 108 cm |
| L | 53 to 57 cm | 106 to 114 cm |
| XL | 55 to 60 cm | 110 to 120 cm |
| 2XL | 57 to 63 cm | 114 to 126 cm |
| 3XL | 59 to 66 cm | 118 to 132 cm |
| 4XL | 61 to 69 cm | 122 to 138 cm |
| 5XL | 63 to 72 cm | 126 to 144 cm |
| 6XL | 65 to 75 cm | 130 to 150 cm |
The range widens for larger sizes because the two known grids diverge starting from XL: one increases by 4 cm per size, the other by 6.
The foolproof method: take a t-shirt you already own that fits you well. Lay it flat and measure from one armpit seam to the other. Compare this figure with the Flat Width column: no calculation needed. You are thus comparing garment to garment, without going through a theoretical size — and it is precisely these theoretical sizes that vary from one manufacturer to another.
The cut runs small: narrower in the shoulders and shorter in the body than a European cut of the same size. Between two sizes, take the larger one: this is the advice that prevents the most returns.
A word on the letters. These sizes follow a specific nomenclature, and beyond XXL, European ready-to-wear barely uses them: a 4XL, 5XL, or 6XL do not refer to any standard European size. Worse, the same letter does not mean the same thing from one manufacturer to another: in this department, a "L" can range from 94 to 112 cm in chest circumference depending on the model. Do not rely on the letter; rely on the centimeter.

Did you know?
Alongside the berserkers, Old Norse sources name a second type of warrior-beast: the úlfheðnar, literally "wolf pelts." The Haraldskvæði, composed around 900, mentions them at the Battle of Hafrsfjord in the same breath as the berserkers, and the Vatnsdœla saga describes them howling and biting their shields. Archaeology provides an image: the Torslunda bronze matrices, found on the island of Öland in Sweden and dated to the 7th century, show a man wearing a wolf's head, jaws open above his face, walking alongside an armed warrior. This is the clearest representation we have of these beast-skin fighters.

Is the slogan in English?
Yes, it runs above and below the wolf, in red and gold. It's a contemporary affirmation, not an ancient quote.
Who were the úlfheðnar?
Wolf-skinned warriors, named in the Haraldskvæði around 900 alongside the berserkers. The Torslunda dies, found in Sweden, show a man wearing a wolf's head walking next to an armed warrior.
Is the design large?
It covers the full height of the chest, columns included. It's a vertical composition rather than a wide one.
Is the gold metallic?
No, it's a matte gold ink. Truly metallic inks don't hold up well in the wash.
