An Emblem Reduced to Its Essence
This Viking t-shirt features a stylized Nordic emblem, printed in iron gray on black: a central disc framed by two curves that evoke horns, set upon a vertical ribbed shaft. No runes, no text, no warrior—just a graphic sign and nothing else. It is the most understated piece in the collection. Find this model in our Viking t-shirt collection.
If you are looking for the same restraint with an attested motif, the fine-line Vegvísir plays the same card of minimal design.
What Sets This T-Shirt Apart
A refined motif does not tolerate approximations: everything depends on the sharpness of the lines and the choice of tone.
- Confident tone-on-tone: the iron gray stands out from the black without shouting—the t-shirt can be worn to the office just as well as anywhere else.
- Vertical composition: the motif is taller than it is wide, which elongates the silhouette instead of widening it as circular medallions do.
- No text: nothing to read, nothing to translate, nothing to date—that is what distinguishes an emblem from a slogan.
- Cotton: soft knit, natural drape, and a black shade that holds up better than on cheap synthetics.
For a sharper contrast, the Valknut between two ravens carries the same sobriety in crisp white.
Choosing Your Size
The manufacturer does not provide a measurement chart for this model. Rather than leaving you without a reference, here is an estimated range, calculated from two adult grids documented on other models in the department. These are orders of magnitude, not guaranteed measurements—we prefer to be clear about that.
| Size | Flat Width | Chest Circumference |
|---|---|---|
| S | 49 to 51 cm | 98 to 102 cm |
| M | 51 to 54 cm | 102 to 108 cm |
| L | 53 to 57 cm | 106 to 114 cm |
| XL | 55 to 60 cm | 110 to 120 cm |
| 2XL | 57 to 63 cm | 114 to 126 cm |
| 3XL | 59 to 66 cm | 118 to 132 cm |
| 4XL | 61 to 69 cm | 122 to 138 cm |
| 5XL | 63 to 72 cm | 126 to 144 cm |
| 6XL | 65 to 75 cm | 130 to 150 cm |
The range widens for larger sizes because the two known grids diverge starting at XL: one progresses by 4 cm per size, the other by 6.
The foolproof method: take a t-shirt you already own that fits you well. Lay it flat and measure from one armpit seam to the other. Apply this number to the Flat Width column: no calculations needed. You are thus comparing one garment to another, without going through a theoretical size—and it is precisely these theoretical sizes that vary from one manufacturer to another.
The cut runs small: narrower in the shoulders and shorter in the body than a European cut of an equivalent size. If between two sizes, take the larger one: this is the advice that prevents the most returns.
A word on the letters. These sizes follow a specific nomenclature, and beyond XXL, French ready-to-wear barely uses them: a 4XL, 5XL, or 6XL does not correspond to any common French size. Worse, the same letter does not mean the same thing from one manufacturer to another: in this department, an "L" ranges from 94 to 112 cm in chest circumference depending on the model. Do not rely on the letter; rely on the centimeter.

Did You Know?
It must be said clearly: most "Odin symbols" sold today do not have an attested medieval form. The only sign that archaeology seriously links to Odin is the valknut, engraved on the Stora Hammars stones in Gotland and on a bed post from the Oseberg ship—and even its name is modern, coined in Norwegian in the 19th century. The horned emblems, stylized spears, and triple interlacing patterns that you see everywhere are graphic creations of the 20th century, often born from fantasy illustration or metal band logos. This does not make them illegitimate as motifs: it simply makes them modern, and we prefer to write that rather than sell an antiquity that does not exist.

Does this symbol have a specific meaning?
No documented historical meaning. It is a modern, Norse-inspired graphic emblem, and we prefer to present it as such rather than invent an origin for it.
Is the print large or subtle?
In between: the design, centered, covers about a third of the width of the chest. It stands out without being overwhelming.
Will the gray still stand out against the black after several washes?
Yes, if you wash it inside out at 30 °C, without fabric softener. Gray inks on a black background are actually more forgiving than white ones, which show wear more.
Does this T-shirt fit like a standard French T-shirt?
No, it runs smaller: the cut has narrower shoulders and a shorter body. If you are between two sizes, take the larger one.
