The Vegvísir engraved on a piece of bark
A large steel plate that covers the phalanx, crafted like split bark: vertical grooves, jagged edges. In the center, a recessed and blackened Vegvísir, eight branches that stand out against the aged metal.

What sets this piece apart
- Bark texture: the striations and irregular edges give the impression of a fragment of petrified wood, not a smooth plate.
- Blackened engraving: the symbol is patinated in black at the base of the engraving: it remains readable from a distance.
- A piece that covers the finger: the plate extends high up the phalanx: it is a ring that gets noticed.

Did you know?
The Vegvísir is known from a 19th-century Icelandic manuscript, the Huld Manuscript, and not from Viking archaeology. It is often read that it originated from the Galdrabók, the famous 17th-century Icelandic grimoire: this is false; it does not appear there. The Vegvísir belongs to a later tradition of magical signs, the galdrastafir, copied into manuscript notebooks until the 19th century.

Is the Vegvísir a Viking symbol?
No. It comes from a 19th-century Icelandic manuscript, long after the Viking Age. It belongs to Icelandic magical folklore.
What sizes are available?
From 54 to 70 in French sizing (finger circumference), i.e. US 7 to US 13.
Is the plate comfortable?
It is large and covers the finger segment: choose a snug fit so that it does not spin.
Does the engraving wear off?
No. It is cut into the steel, and the blackening stays at the bottom of the lines.
