A Soft, Almost Antique Contrast
This off-white Viking bandana features a dark brown Vegvísir at the crown, extended by interlacing patterns that run toward the edges. The background is a very light, slightly grayish beige, and the contrast remains soft—the effect evokes a print on antique canvas rather than a sharp graphic. What Sets This Bandana Apart
Out of nine models, eight are dark. This one takes the opposite approach.
- The only light background: an off-white that reflects light instead of absorbing it—a real advantage in direct sunlight.
- A brown pattern, not black: the contrast is softened, giving the design a weathered look rather than a graphic one.
- Interlacing to the edges: the pattern does not stop at the central medallion, it extends over the areas folded by the knot.

Did you know?
Scandinavian textiles were almost never off-white. The fragments found at Birka and Hedeby show, on the contrary, a rich palette—madder reds, woad blues, weld yellows—and dye analyses reveal that even ordinary clothing was colored. Natural undyed wool did exist, but it signaled workwear or poverty. The image of a Viking in a beige tunic is therefore, most often, a product of budget-conscious cinema.

How to wear it
There is no size to choose. The bandana sits on the head and ties at the back with two flat ties sewn into the fabric. The knot sets the tightness: you decide whether it sits tight or loose.
The right move: place the front edge of the fabric against your forehead, bring the two ties behind your head, cross them under the base of your skull, then tie. The back flap then falls naturally onto the nape of your neck.
Under a helmet or a hood: the ties are flat and the fabric stays thin, which avoids pressure points. This is a common use for this type of bandana.
Care: hand wash at 30 °C, air dry. The fabric is light and dries quickly; avoid the tumble dryer, which sets the creases of the knot.
Is the background white?
No, ecru: a very light beige with a slight gray tint. It is the lightest of the nine bandanas in our range.
What color is the design?
Dark brown, which gives a soft rather than sharp contrast. The effect is close to a print on old canvas.
Does a light-colored bandana get dirty quickly?
More than a black one, inevitably. The polyester washes easily by hand at 30 °C and dries quickly, but we would rather point it out.
Is the Vegvísir centered?
Yes, it sits on the top of the head, surrounded by knotwork that extends toward the edges.
