A Full-Size Dragon Head Beneath the Cup
Here the dragon doesn't decorate the cup: it carries it. A massive head, jaws closed and horns swept back, fills the whole lower part and extends into a scaly neck that runs down to the foot. Above it, a gold-tone medallion set with an iridescent gem stands out against the hammered bowl. Two colors: glacier blue, ember red. Find it in our Viking chalices collection.
What Sets This Piece Apart
- Double wall: an outer shell of sculpted resin and a removable inner liner of food-grade stainless steel. Your drink only touches the metal.
- Unusual volume: the head clearly juts out beyond the outline of the cup. It is the most visually imposing chalice in the collection.
- Set medallion: a faceted gem with shifting reflections, surrounded by an openwork gold-tone setting.
- Individual scales: each scale on the neck is modeled separately, with a darker wash in the crevices.
- Weight in hand: 442 g empty. A far cry from a costume-party goblet.

Did you know?
These colored gems recall a very real industry of the Norse world: the glass bead. At Ribe in Denmark, as at Hedeby, archaeologists have uncovered entire bead-making workshops, complete with their furnaces, their iron rods and their waste. Since they did not produce their own glass, the bead makers melted down tesserae from Roman mosaics and vessels brought in from abroad to rework them. A single woman's grave could hold several dozen beads: color was expensive, and it was worn.

Dragon, skull or warrior: which design to choose?
| Design | What the cup shows | Who to give it to |
|---|---|---|
| Dragon this product | Body coiled around the stem, wings spread, set gem; from smooth low relief to full sculpture | The widest and most crowd-pleasing choice: fantasy fans, gamers, collectors |
| Skull and bones | Curled horns, membranous wings, stacked vertebrae, friezes of small skulls | For a dark decor you already embrace, and for autumn and Halloween tables |
| Warrior and helmet | Bearded face or nasal helm in high relief, crossed axes, knotwork at the foot | The most understated and most historical register: saga readers, fans of Viking series |
| Raven | Red-eyed bird perched on a skull, frieze of feathers and small bones | A targeted gift, for someone who recognizes Huginn and Muninn without being told their names |
| Goat and pentagram | Baphomet head inside a pentagram on a red background, frieze of skulls | An occult, non-Norse register, for those who embrace this imagery; 600 ml, a 500 ml bottle plus the head |
Are the two colors the same sculpture?
Yes, same mold. Only the patinas differ: the glacier blue brings out cool highlights on the scales, while the ember red darkens the recesses and accentuates the relief.
Does the head get in the way when holding the chalice?
No, quite the opposite: the horns and jaw form natural rests for your fingers. The center of gravity stays low thanks to the flared base.
Can the gem come loose?
It is set in a mount molded as one with the wall. Just avoid direct impacts and hot water, which would weaken the glue over time.
How do I clean it?
The steel liner comes out and is washed by hand in lukewarm water. For the outside, use a damp cloth, and a soft brush between the scales if needed. Never put it in the dishwasher.
