The Skull, the Bones, and a Spinal Column Handle

The motif is direct: a skull above two crossed bones, in high relief in the center of the body. Two friezes of small skulls encircle the top and the bottom. But it is the handle that makes the piece: a complete spinal column, vertebra by vertebra, from the neck to the base. 450 ml. Find it among our Viking tankards.

What Distinguishes This Piece

  • Double wall: an outer shell of sculpted resin and a removable food-grade stainless steel inner cup. Your drink only touches the metal.
  • Spinal handle: each vertebra forms a natural notch. It is the most secure grip in our entire range of tankards.
  • Two skull friezes: one at the top, one at the bottom, framing the central motif around the entire circumference.
  • Brown-silver patina: the brown settles into the recesses and brings out the white of the bones.
  • Hand-applied patina: the recesses remain dark, the edges catch the light. No two copies are ever strictly identical.

Complete the table with our Viking chalices or a natural yak drinking horn.

Did you know?

The skull and crossbones are not Nordic at all: it is the Jolly Roger, whose first reliable mentions date back to the early 18th century, a thousand years after the Viking Age. The Scandinavians had their own banner: the Hrafnsmerki, the raven banner, mentioned in the Anglo-Saxon Chronicle and in several sagas. It was said to have been woven by a chieftain's daughters and possessed a power: whoever carried it would bring victory to their army, but would die in battle.
