A Skull Struck Like a Seal

No color, no gems: a skull in high relief inscribed within a circular medallion, set upon a hammered-grain body. A chevron frieze encircles the base, and the handle is studded with rivets like a piece of ironwork. 450 ml, entirely in antiqued silver. Find it among our Viking tankards.

What Sets This Piece Apart

  • Double wall: an outer shell of sculpted resin and a removable food-grade stainless steel inner cup. Your drink only touches the metal.
  • Riveted handle: each rivet is modeled in relief, providing a firm grip even with wet hands.
  • Sunken medallion: the skull is set into a recessed circle, which protects it from wear.
  • Monochrome throughout: the only contrast comes from the dark wash lodged in the recesses.
  • Hand-applied patina: the hollows remain dark, while the edges catch the light. No two examples are ever exactly identical.

Complete the table with our Viking chalices or a natural yak drinking horn.

Did you know?

These rivets are not just decoration: they refer to the technique that made the Scandinavians masters of the sea. Their ships were built clinker-style, with planks overlapping and joined by thousands of iron nails hammered over a square backing plate, the rove. The Gokstad ship has about a thousand of them. It is this flexible, rather than rigid, assembly that allowed the hull to flex in the swell instead of breaking—and thus to cross the North Atlantic.
