Seven Skeletons in Procession Around the Goblet
Each skeleton occupies its own Gothic arch, hands crossed, in a frieze that encircles the entire body. The background is slate gray, with the bones in a bone tone. The stem is not a column but a stack of skulls, which continues down the entire base. This is the most ornate piece in the collection. Find it in our collection of Viking chalices.
What Distinguishes This Piece
- Double-walled: an outer shell of sculpted resin and a removable food-grade stainless steel inner cup. Your drink only touches the metal.
- Continuous frieze: no front side, the scene is read by rotating the chalice.
- Stem composed entirely of skulls: each is distinct, with its own eye sockets and jaw.
- Two tones only: slate in the recesses, bone on the reliefs, with no other color.
- Hand-applied patina: the hollows remain dark, the edges catch the light. No two copies are ever exactly identical.

Did you know?
The motif used by this chalice is precisely dated, and it is not Nordic: it is the danse macabre, which emerged in 15th-century Europe after the waves of the Black Death. The most famous was painted in 1424 on the walls of the Saints-Innocents cemetery in Paris: a ring dance where Death leads the pope, the emperor, the merchant, and the peasant in turn. The message was not terror but equality: before it, rank protects no one. An idea that a banquet, curiously, has always accommodated well.

Dragon, skull or warrior: which design to choose?
| Design | What the cup shows | Who to give it to |
|---|---|---|
| Dragon | Body coiled around the stem, wings spread, set gem; from smooth low relief to full sculpture | The widest and most crowd-pleasing choice: fantasy fans, gamers, collectors |
| Skull and bones this product | Curled horns, membranous wings, stacked vertebrae, friezes of small skulls | For a dark decor you already embrace, and for autumn and Halloween tables |
| Warrior and helmet | Bearded face or nasal helm in high relief, crossed axes, knotwork at the foot | The most understated and most historical register: saga readers, fans of Viking series |
| Raven | Red-eyed bird perched on a skull, frieze of feathers and small bones | A targeted gift, for someone who recognizes Huginn and Muninn without being told their names |
| Goat and pentagram | Baphomet head inside a pentagram on a red background, frieze of skulls | An occult, non-Norse register, for those who embrace this imagery; 600 ml, a 500 ml bottle plus the head |
Is it a Viking-inspired object?
No, and we prefer to say so: the Dance of Death is a Christian motif from the 15th century, not a Norse one. This chalice is part of our collection for its construction and its use, not for its imagery.
Is the relief comfortable to hold?
It is very pronounced but entirely rounded. The arches form vertical flutes that give a good grip.
What is the capacity?
About 200 ml, like all our chalices.
How do I clean such detailed decoration?
The steel liner holds the drink and is washed on its own, by hand. For the outside, use a damp cloth and a soft-bristled brush for the dust lodged between the skulls on the stem.
