A Piece of Goldsmithing Rather Than a Sculpture
No color, no gems: this chalice relies entirely on its chased detail. Three dragons are enclosed in arched medallions around the bowl, separated by twisted cords. The stem is baluster-shaped, ringed with beaded bands, and the foot features a frieze of gadroons. It evokes a church treasure chalice more than a fantasy object. Find it in our collection of viking chalices.
What Sets This Piece Apart
- Double wall: an outer shell of sculpted resin and a removable inner cup made of food-grade stainless steel. Your drink only touches the metal.
- All in antique silver: a single patina, from neck to base. The relief alone creates the contrast.
- Arched medallions: each dragon is framed within its own niche, just like in medieval goldsmithing.
- Baluster stem: thinner and taller than our other models, it gives the piece a slender silhouette.
- Hand-applied patina: the recesses remain dark, while the edges catch the light. No two pieces are ever exactly identical.

Did you know?
For the Scandinavians, silver was not counted: it was weighed. In 1840, a hoard of over 8,600 silver items was unearthed in Cuerdale, Lancashire, and in 1999, nearly 67 kilograms were found buried under the floor of a barn in Spillings, on the island of Gotland. A good portion of these treasures is hacksilver: jewelry and coins deliberately cut into pieces to reach the desired weight. Merchants traveled with small folding scales, which have been found in quantity in graves.

Dragon, skull or warrior: which design to choose?
| Design | What the cup shows | Who to give it to |
|---|---|---|
| Dragon this product | Body coiled around the stem, wings spread, set gem; from smooth low relief to full sculpture | The widest and most crowd-pleasing choice: fantasy fans, gamers, collectors |
| Skull and bones | Curled horns, membranous wings, stacked vertebrae, friezes of small skulls | For a dark decor you already embrace, and for autumn and Halloween tables |
| Warrior and helmet | Bearded face or nasal helm in high relief, crossed axes, knotwork at the foot | The most understated and most historical register: saga readers, fans of Viking series |
| Raven | Red-eyed bird perched on a skull, frieze of feathers and small bones | A targeted gift, for someone who recognizes Huginn and Muninn without being told their names |
| Goat and pentagram | Baphomet head inside a pentagram on a red background, frieze of skulls | An occult, non-Norse register, for those who embrace this imagery; 600 ml, a 500 ml bottle plus the head |
Is there any real silver?
No. The outside is sculpted resin with a silver patina. Only the removable inner liner is real metal: food-grade stainless steel.
Why does it have no color?
It is a deliberate choice. With no colored patina or gemstone, the eye goes entirely to the chiseled detail. It is the most understated model in the collection, and the one that best suits a set table.
Is the slender stem sturdy?
Yes. It is cast in one piece with the cup and the base, around a thick core. It handles normal use without difficulty; just avoid dropping it.
How do I care for it?
Remove the steel liner and hand-wash it in lukewarm water. Wipe the outside with a damp cloth. No dishwasher, no microwave: heat would dull the patina.
