An Engraved Dragon, Not a Raised Sculpture
Unlike the other models in the series, the dragon here is not in high relief: it is engraved in bas-relief into the wall itself, wings spread symmetrically and head facing forward. A faceted green gem is set just below the neck. A more understated silhouette, closer to a ceremonial cup than to a collector's piece. Find it in our collection of Viking chalices.
What Sets This Piece Apart
- Double wall: an outer shell of sculpted resin and a removable food-grade stainless steel inner liner. Your drink only touches the metal.
- Full bas-relief: nothing projects from the wall. The chalice can be stored and carried with no risk of catching on anything.
- Easier-to-clean surface: fewer deep recesses than on the talon or bramble models, so less dust lodged in the decoration.
- Green gem set below the neck: a faceted synthetic stone that stands out against the antique silver.
- Real weight in the hand: 442 g empty. A far cry from a costume-party cup.

Did you know?
A dragon engraved flat into the wall is no random choice: it is exactly how Scandinavian craftsmen worked. Northern animal art can be traced through a succession of styles, from Borre to Jelling, from Mammen to Ringerike, up to the Urnes style in the 11th century. The latter takes its name from the Urnes stave church in Norway, whose portal shows slender beasts interlaced in a continuous ribbon, carved in shallow relief rather than cut out in volume. The whole strength of the motif lies in the line, not in the relief.

Dragon, skull or warrior: which design to choose?
| Design | What the cup shows | Who to give it to |
|---|---|---|
| Dragon this product | Body coiled around the stem, wings spread, set gem; from smooth low relief to full sculpture | The widest and most crowd-pleasing choice: fantasy fans, gamers, collectors |
| Skull and bones | Curled horns, membranous wings, stacked vertebrae, friezes of small skulls | For a dark decor you already embrace, and for autumn and Halloween tables |
| Warrior and helmet | Bearded face or nasal helm in high relief, crossed axes, knotwork at the foot | The most understated and most historical register: saga readers, fans of Viking series |
| Raven | Red-eyed bird perched on a skull, frieze of feathers and small bones | A targeted gift, for someone who recognizes Huginn and Muninn without being told their names |
| Goat and pentagram | Baphomet head inside a pentagram on a red background, frieze of skulls | An occult, non-Norse register, for those who embrace this imagery; 600 ml, a 500 ml bottle plus the head |
How does it differ from the other dragon chalices?
In the technique. Here the dragon is engraved into the thickness of the wall instead of being sculpted in relief. The piece is more understated, easier to store, and the motif can be taken in at a single glance from the front.
Is the green gem securely attached?
It's set in a mount molded as one with the wall, so it's integral to the piece. Just avoid direct impacts and hot water, which could weaken the glue over time.
What are its dimensions?
About 18 cm tall and 9 cm wide, 442 g empty, with a capacity of about 200 ml.
Is it easier to clean than the heavily sculpted models?
Yes, much easier. The surface is mostly smooth: a damp cloth is enough for the outside. The steel liner lifts out and is washed by hand, as on all our chalices.
