A Dragon Coiled Around Its Gem
A dragon with outspread wings wraps around the entire bowl, neck raised and jaws open, its tail coiling all the way down into the foot. Below it, a faceted amber gem is set in a stem shaped like a spearhead. It is the most ornate model among our Viking chalices, available in patinated silver, midnight blue or blood red. Find it in our collection of Viking chalices.
What Sets This Piece Apart
- Double wall: an outer shell of sculpted resin and a removable food-grade stainless steel inner liner. Your drink only touches the metal.
- High-relief wings: they stand out from the wall and create a silhouette you can recognize from a distance, even on a shelf.
- Set faceted gem: an amber-colored synthetic stone held in an openwork setting that catches the candlelight.
- Three moods: patinated silver stays understated and metallic, midnight blue tips the piece toward fantasy, and blood red makes it downright theatrical.
- Real weight in the hand: 442 g empty. A far cry from a costume-party cup.

Did you know?
Amber was the gold of the North. Gathered on the shores of the Baltic, it traveled up the Russian rivers as far as Byzantium and Baghdad along the Varangian trade routes, and amber beads have been found in large numbers in the graves at Birka, in Sweden. Mythology gives it a sadder origin: when her husband Óðr disappears, the goddess Freyja roams the world looking for him, weeping tears of red gold. It is from her that the skalds borrowed one of their most beautiful poetic names for gold: Freyja's tears.

Dragon, skull or warrior: which design to choose?
| Design | What the cup shows | Who to give it to |
|---|---|---|
| Dragon this product | Body coiled around the stem, wings spread, set gem; from smooth low relief to full sculpture | The widest and most crowd-pleasing choice: fantasy fans, gamers, collectors |
| Skull and bones | Curled horns, membranous wings, stacked vertebrae, friezes of small skulls | For a dark decor you already embrace, and for autumn and Halloween tables |
| Warrior and helmet | Bearded face or nasal helm in high relief, crossed axes, knotwork at the foot | The most understated and most historical register: saga readers, fans of Viking series |
| Raven | Red-eyed bird perched on a skull, frieze of feathers and small bones | A targeted gift, for someone who recognizes Huginn and Muninn without being told their names |
| Goat and pentagram | Baphomet head inside a pentagram on a red background, frieze of skulls | An occult, non-Norse register, for those who embrace this imagery; 600 ml, a 500 ml bottle plus the head |
Is the gem a real precious stone?
No, it's a faceted amber-colored synthetic stone, set in a resin mount. It's securely fixed and doesn't move, but it isn't natural amber.
What's the difference between the silver and the blue colorway?
The sculpture is identical. The patinated silver keeps an old-metal look that stays understated on a table. The midnight blue colors the dragon's body and wings, which makes the piece far more eye-catching.
Do the raised wings get in the way when drinking?
No. They spread along the sides and leave the rim of the cup completely clear. They even serve as a natural guide for placing your fingers.
Is this chalice dishwasher-safe?
No, hand wash only. Heat would damage the painted patina and could loosen the gem from its mount. Wash the steel liner separately and wipe the outside with a damp cloth.
