A Symbol Above Two Flames
This Viking tank top stacks three elements on a vertical axis: a Valknut in the center of the chest, the ring of runes that encloses it, and beneath it, two flaming torches crossed in an X shape. Everything is rendered in crisp white on deep black. Find it in our Viking tank top collection.
For the same symbol accompanied by weapons rather than torches, see the axe model.
What Sets This Tank Top Apart
On a garment that moves, a vertical composition reads better than a spread-out one.
- Vertical axis: the three elements are stacked in the center of the torso, the area that deforms the least during exercise.
- Crisp white: no gray, no gradients — the maximum contrast in the range compared to the raven model.
- Different front and back: the back trades the torches for interlace patterns and a second ring.
- Nine sizes: from S to 6XL.
For a geometric and colorful version of the same symbol, see the slate blue model.

Did you know?
Runes engraved in a circle do indeed exist, but rarely on stones: they are mostly found on worn objects. The amulets of Kvinneby, in Sweden, and Sigtuna are copper plates covered with inscriptions that turn, change direction, and continue on the reverse side. Epigraphers call this boustrophedon, writing that goes back and forth like an ox plowing. It was not an ornament: on an object the size of a coin, it was the only way to fit an entire text.

Which tank top to choose?
| Type | What it looks like | When to choose it |
|---|---|---|
| All-over print, black and white this product | The design covers the whole garment, front and back, in two bold tones without color. | The core of the range: nine designs, from S to 6XL, the widest size range of the three families. |
| All-over print, gold or color | The same full coverage, but with gold, brick red or slate blue. | When the garment is meant to be seen. Four models, the most striking in the series, and the only ones that go beyond black and white. |
| Stretch knit or muscle cut | Two models whose knit contains elastane and moves with you, plus one muscle-cut model that covers the shoulder. | When the garment is really for training, or if thin straps don't suit you. Note: the muscle cut stops at 2XL. |
Choosing your size
The manufacturer provides no size chart for the tank tops in this range. We would rather tell you so than publish a measurement chart we would have made up.
The method that never fails: take a tank top or a T-shirt you already wear and that fits you well. Lay it flat and measure from one armpit seam to the other. Write this number down: it is your benchmark. You are comparing one garment with another, without going through a theoretical size, and theoretical sizes are precisely what vary from one manufacturer to another.
The cut runs small: narrower in the shoulders and shorter in the body than a European cut of the same size. If you are between two sizes, take the larger one: this is the advice that avoids the most returns.
Available sizes vary by model. Thirteen tank tops go from S to 6XL, two from S to 5XL, and the muscle-cut one stops at 2XL. Check the drop-down list on the product page before ordering: it is the one that counts.
A word about the letters. Beyond XXL, these labels follow no common standard: a 4XL, 5XL or 6XL has no fixed equivalent, and the same letter does not mean the same thing from one manufacturer to another. Do not trust the letter, trust the centimeter.
What are the crossed objects below the symbol?
Two flaming torches, crossed in an X, drawn in white line. They frame the lower part of the composition.
Does the ring of runes mean anything?
They are futhark characters arranged in a circle, like an engraved border. They do not form a translatable word.
Are the front and back identical?
No: the back replaces the torches with knotwork and adds a second runic ring.
Does this style run large?
No, the cut follows a smaller sizing standard and runs on the small side. If you are between two sizes, take the larger one.
