A longship built brick by brick
Four hundred and fifty-six pieces, a mast, a sail, and a row of shields: this model reproduces a Viking longship using standard interlocking plastic bricks. The brown hull ends with a carved head at the prow, oars are deployed on each side of the planking, and a red pennant tops the mast.
Once assembled, it doesn't go back in its box. It takes its place on a shelf, a desk, or a console, like the other pieces in our collection of Viking ships and longships.
What sets this piece apart
- An accurate silhouette: raised, scrolled prow and stern, tapered hull, single mast carrying its yard. The proportions of the Nordic longship are maintained, not caricatured.
- Shields on the hull: a row of round shields runs along the hull, just like on the Gokstad ship.
- An inhabited deck: barrels, crates, and small accessories occupy the light-colored deck. The boat looks loaded for a voyage, not devoid of life.
- Thread rigging: black stays connect the mast to both ends. This detail is what gives the three-quarter view its structure, with oars deployed.
- 456 pieces, not 1,500: assembly remains feasible in one session, without the long, repetitive series found in very large models.
Do you prefer wood and the smell of glue? The 1/72 scale Wooden Viking Longship Model tells the same story with a different material and a different process: both complement each other well on the same shelf. Here, a soft brush from time to time is enough to keep the bricks clean.

Did you know?
In 1962, five Viking ships were raised from the bottom of Roskilde Fjord, in Denmark: the Skuldelev ships, intentionally sunk around 1070 to block the channel leading to the city. Their recovery, conducted behind a cofferdam, required numbering and documenting thousands of waterlogged oak fragments, then reassembling each hull piece by piece—the largest naval puzzle in archaeology. The five reassembled ships are exhibited at the Viking Ship Museum in Roskilde. Reconstructing a longship piece by piece: that is exactly the exercise this box offers.

Is this longship a product of one of the major brick brands?
No. It is a MOC model, short for “My Own Creation”: an independent design, neither produced nor endorsed by any brick brand and with no connection to one. Only the bricks themselves are compatible with the major brands' standard.
What is the minimum age to build it?
The manufacturer recommends ages 14 and up. The model contains very small parts as well as rigging threads: it is not suitable for young children and must be kept out of their reach.
Are the bricks compatible with the ones I already own?
Yes, the way the bricks click together follows the standard of the major brick brands. The colors, however, may differ slightly from one manufacturer to another: if you add your own pieces to the model, expect a possible difference in shade on the browns.
What are the dimensions of the longship once assembled?
The manufacturer does not provide them, and we would rather not put forward a figure we have not measured ourselves. Write to us before ordering: we will measure the unit in stock and give you the actual height and length.
Does the model hold together once on display?
Yes, the interlocking bricks are enough; no glue is needed. Move it by holding the hull, not the mast: the oars and rigging threads are the most fragile parts. A soft brush or a dry cloth is all you need to dust it.
