Needle — a blade made for thrusting, not slashing
The thin, straight blade of Needle, Arya Stark's sword, made of PU foam with a rigid core: S-guard with ball-tipped ends, dark handle, openwork pommel in a golden rosette. Seventy-nine centimeters of a weapon designed for a small hand.

What sets this piece apart
- A narrow blade: that is the whole point. Needle does not have the mass to slash — it is made for thrusting, and the story explicitly states it.
- The openwork pommel: a pierced golden rosette, a detail from the series model that low-end replicas replace with a solid ball.
- PU foam with a rigid core: lightweight and without sharp edges, it can be carried for an entire convention. However, its thinness makes it more fragile than wide blades.
- This is not a weapon: no sharp edges, no pointed tip. This replica is made for costumes, reenactment, and display.

Did you know?
Needle was forged by Mikken at Winterfell and gifted by Jon Snow, with advice that has become iconic: "Stick them with the pointy end." The fencing lesson Arya subsequently receives from the bravo Syrio Forel places this weapon in direct opposition to the Western style: no shield, no brute force, a side-on stance, and footwork. George R. R. Martin drew inspiration here from Italian and Spanish Renaissance fencing — the rapier and destreza — much more so than from the Nordic High Middle Ages, from which he draws the rest of his setting. A sword like this in a Viking's hand would be an anachronism: the North fights with shield and axe.
To learn more, our anatomy of the Viking sword allows you to compare this design to that of a blade actually forged in the North.

Does this sword cut?
No. PU foam with a rigid core, no cutting edge: it's a costume and decorative replica.
Where does this sword come from?
It's Needle, Arya Stark's sword in Game of Thrones, forged by Mikken and given to her by Jon Snow.
Why is the blade so thin?
Because it's made for thrusting. The story embraces this: with no mass behind it, it doesn't slash, it stabs — hence Jon Snow's advice.
Is it suitable for a child?
Its lightness and slim grip make it a reasonable fit, but it's nearly 80 cm long: that's long for a small build, and it's still an accessory to be handled under supervision.
