A Raven and the Word Valhalla
This Viking raven t-shirt is composed of three planes: an arc of blue runes at the top, a stylized raven covered in interlacing at the center, and the word VALHALLA in vertical lettering running down the side of the design. Blue and gray complement each other without any other colors. Find this model in our Viking t-shirt collection.
For a blue raven treated with light rather than interlacing, see the blue raven with spread wings.
What Distinguishes This T-Shirt
Vertical lettering is only readable if it does not compete for space with the image: here it runs alongside the motif rather than crossing it.
- Vertical reading: the word descends along the torso, which elongates the silhouette instead of cutting it across.
- Ornamental raven: the bird's body is filled with interlacing rather than realistic feathers: this is the Nordic vocabulary, not wildlife illustration.
- Blue runic arc: the only bold color in the design, placed at the top, which provides an entry point for the gaze.
- Cotton: a bold blue holds better on cotton, and the fine lines of the interlacing remain sharp.
For the word Valhalla treated in a horizontal composition, the Til Valhalla fits on a single line.
Choosing Your Size
The manufacturer does not provide a measurement chart for this model. Rather than leaving you without a reference, here is an estimated range, calculated from the two adult grids documented on other models in this category. These are orders of magnitude, not guaranteed measurements—we prefer to be transparent.
| Size | Width flat | Chest measurement |
|---|---|---|
| S | 49 to 51 cm | 98 to 102 cm |
| M | 51 to 54 cm | 102 to 108 cm |
| L | 53 to 57 cm | 106 to 114 cm |
| XL | 55 to 60 cm | 110 to 120 cm |
| 2XL | 57 to 63 cm | 114 to 126 cm |
| 3XL | 59 to 66 cm | 118 to 132 cm |
| 4XL | 61 to 69 cm | 122 to 138 cm |
| 5XL | 63 to 72 cm | 126 to 144 cm |
| 6XL | 65 to 75 cm | 130 to 150 cm |
The range widens for larger sizes because the two known grids diverge starting at XL: one progresses by 4 cm per size, the other by 6.
The foolproof method: take a t-shirt you already own that fits you well. Lay it flat and measure from one armpit seam to the other. Apply this number to the Width flat column: there is no calculation to do. You are thus comparing a garment to a garment, without relying on a theoretical size—and it is precisely these theoretical sizes that vary from one manufacturer to another.
The cut runs small: narrower in the shoulders and shorter in the body than a European cut of an equivalent size. Between two sizes, choose the larger one: this is the advice that prevents the most returns.
A note on the letters. These sizes follow a specific nomenclature, and beyond XXL, standard French ready-to-wear practically does not use them: a 4XL, 5XL, or 6XL does not correspond to any common French size. Worse, the same letter does not mean the same thing from one manufacturer to another: in this department, an "L" can range from 94 to 112 cm in chest circumference depending on the model. Do not rely on the letter, rely on the centimeter.

Did you know?
Odin carries, among his two hundred names, that of Hrafnaguð—"god of the ravens." The bird is so associated with him that the raven banner, the hrafnsmerki, became the standard of Scandinavian leaders in England and Ireland. The Annals of Saint Neots, in the 12th century, add a detail that speaks volumes about the object's reputation: the banner was said to have been woven in a single day by the three daughters of Ragnar Lothbrok, and the raven embroidered on it would flap its wings when victory was promised, but hang motionless when defeat was approaching. A banner of light fabric floating in the wind produces exactly this effect—the miracle needs no supernatural explanation.

Do the runes in the arc form a word?
No, it's a decorative frieze built from rune shapes. We won't attribute a translation to it.
