A Blue Light Raven
This Viking raven t-shirt features the bird with wings spread wide in luminous blue against a background of bluish smoke. The treatment focuses on glow rather than line work: the feathers brighten towards the tips as if the light were coming from within. Find this model in our Viking t-shirts collection.

What Sets This T-Shirt Apart
A cool color on a black background carries further than a warm color of the same intensity—which is what makes this design visible from a distance.
- Light source effect: the brightest areas are in the center of the body, giving the illusion that the light comes from the design itself.
- Wide wingspan: the open wings occupy the full width of the chest and visually broaden the shoulder line.
- Smoke background: the bluish halo detaches the bird from the black of the garment without forming a sharp frame.
- Cotton: saturated blues hold up well on cotton, and the soft drape allows the design to follow the body.
If you prefer the same bird in a very large format on the back, the back-print model covers the shoulder blades.
Choosing Your Size
The manufacturer does not provide a measurement chart for this model. Rather than leaving you without a reference, here is an estimated range, calculated from the two adult grids documented on other models in this category. These are orders of magnitude, not guaranteed measurements—we prefer to state this upfront.
| Size | Flat Width | Chest Circumference |
|---|---|---|
| S | 49 to 51 cm | 98 to 102 cm |
| M | 51 to 54 cm | 102 to 108 cm |
| L | 53 to 57 cm | 106 to 114 cm |
| XL | 55 to 60 cm | 110 to 120 cm |
| 2XL | 57 to 63 cm | 114 to 126 cm |
| 3XL | 59 to 66 cm | 118 to 132 cm |
| 4XL | 61 to 69 cm | 122 to 138 cm |
| 5XL | 63 to 72 cm | 126 to 144 cm |
| 6XL | 65 to 75 cm | 130 to 150 cm |
The range widens for larger sizes because the two known grids diverge starting at XL: one progresses by 4 cm per size, the other by 6.
The foolproof method: take a t-shirt you already own that fits you well. Lay it flat and measure from one armpit seam to the other. Apply this figure to the Flat Width column: no calculations needed. This way, you are comparing a garment to a garment, without using a theoretical size—and it is precisely these theoretical sizes that vary from one manufacturer to another.
The cut runs small: narrower in the shoulders and shorter in the body than a European cut of the equivalent size. If you are between two sizes, choose the larger one: this is the advice that avoids the most returns.
A word on the letters. These sizes follow a specific nomenclature, and beyond XXL, standard French off-the-rack clothing barely uses them: a 4XL, 5XL, or 6XL does not correspond to any common French size. Worse, the same letter does not mean the same thing from one manufacturer to another: in this category, an "L" ranges from 94 to 112 cm in chest circumference depending on the model. Do not trust the letter, trust the centimeter.

Did you know?
In the Icelandic sagas, blue is a color that heralds violence. This fact has long been noted by philologists: when a character puts on a blue cloak—blár—before going out, they are going to kill someone. In the Njáls saga, Gunnar and Skarphéðinn wear blue at decisive moments; in the Laxdœla saga, Bolli puts on his blue cape before going to confront Kjartan. The reason is likely as practical as it is symbolic: woad blue was an expensive dye, reserved for quality garments worn for special occasions. And a vendetta, in that society, was certainly one.
